We can place blame on a lot of things.

    1. Was the defense any different than we'd seen in previous games? Not really. It's not good. It never was good. It wasn't going to get better tonight. And Flacco played well.

    2. officiating. Yeah...some head-scratchers there. But still...gotta play through that.

    3. Ben and the offense. You know, when you're missing a key cog in the machine, the rest try to do too much to make up for it. Ben wasn't good. The line wasn't good. The RBs stunk. Chalk this up to Leveon being out.

    4. Believe it or not, as a resident Tomlin basher, I don't think this is on him, either. He was trying to do what he could, short-handed. But i do question Polamalu's start.

All in all, fellow fans, it just wasn't our night. The Bell loss was HUGE. The team couldn't compensate for it. It's that simple.

Well, that and not actually having a backup RB that could step in and make the plays needed to keep Ben upright.

Ben played poorly. If he shines, we win. He looked more like Zach Mettenberger instead of Ben Roethlisberger at times. He's not the only reason we lost, but he's THE GUY that makes us or breaks us and tonight he underperformed.

Got to go with defense and defensive coaches. Too many dumb personal fouls and not stopping the opposition on third and long. Gosh I hate Harbaugh. Smug bastard.

I lay this lost at the feet of Kevin Colbert. The minute we let go Blount we should of been looking for another running back. How can you go with josh Harris and dri archer.

I'm fine with that decision, but you have got to get them practice and playing time so they can be ready.

But in Ben's defense (and gee whiz, of all people, I can't believe I am the one defending this team tonight), when you know you're missing such a key part of the offense, you start trying to do too much to compensate. I think the whole offense looked uncharacteristically out of synch. There's one reason for that.

ben played poorly the final 4 minutes Tate int wasn't on him he was desperate and the int in the end zone the clock management by the steelers showed they already forfeited due to poor officiating after the archer td called back

The reason for that is not having a clear Plan B if something happens. Not getting Archer or Harris snaps during the season after Blount left is insane in this league. You've got to work them into the system, even though RB is probably one of the more plug and play positions. THAT was a poor decision for the last part of the season.

I dont think Ben played that bad the first pick was not his fault,, and the 2nd he was just trying to force it ,, and other players have to step up, in games like this, instead of laying down

I think that sums it all up well. There were no surprises in this match. If we hit the field on fire, then we win well. If we hit the field badly, we get annihilated. In the end, we failed to convert early opportunities, and hung in for as long as we could. When folks are bashing Tomlin, the OL, Troy or whatever, it's worth remembering that if the Archer play is not called back, and if (perhaps) Grad stays in rather than Ben before he threw the INT, we could even have won it. Even if it couldn't be said we really deserved it.

I fine with the decision in releasing Blount, but not getting another running back I'm not.

Sorry, but I put this loss on Tomlin. If Tomlin had the Steelers winning the games from the teams that we should of have beaten this season, the Steelers would of been sitting home watching tonight's game and Bell would of had another week to get healthy. Until Tomlin can change this pattern this has been his MO since being here. Second, he ran Bell without giving many carries to the backups to prepare them for game conditions. To many fans wanting to carry Tomlin to Canton caught up in his verbiage not the product he puts on the field. Tomlin is not a problem solver.

They didn't lose because of the absence of Bell.
    Starting Troy was a mistake.
Ben was unfortunately not at his best.
The zebras were getting they're marching orders from the Liar to keep us down.
Just an above average team which had a roller coaster ride all season.
    Changes need to be made.

I agree with this part more than the others. If we would of won those other games who would say Bell would of gotten hurt? We needed another running back and not running Bell to death. That was his mistake.

Yes on another running back. We relied too much on Bell and he had too much of a work load. Especially when they had Bell as a receiver in 5 receiver sets intead of a regular recevier. Last night they had Bly take that spot and he was not in sync with Ben.

Bell was mismanaged with his work load this year. It was just a matter of time when he was involved in just about 40% of the offense and getting all those hits that we did not have a back up plan or have someone else take some of the work load.

Bottom line, Baltimore played great and they were well coached. Kudos to them and let's give credit where credit is due. They were the superior team last night. Maybe Bell could have made a difference...who knows. When we lose, I hold everyone accountable...players and coaches and sometimes management for poor personnel moves. This offseason is one of the most important ones I can remember in a long time. The front office is going to have to make a lot of correct decisions IF we are to have any hope of getting back to the SB in Ben's remaining years. And frankly, I'm nervous about it.

QB's are not supposed to force it. QB 101 says if you force it, they will pick it.
    Bens fault

ben did force several, but our O-line and D-line got man handled all night. LB'ers, safeties too. receivers couldn't get free of a bunch of backups defenders. heath had probably as bad of a game as I've ever seen. just a wholsale cluster f**k.
