Good decision. Need him long term. No need to play him against a dirty rat team that whould be targeting that knee.

I think that was the best thing to do so everyone including the whole offence can work their game plan around this news. No distractions.
    Next man up.

I don't think he'll play the following week either. He's still not even close to playing. He basically ruled himself out based on his comments today how he's not comfortable with how his knee feels. That doesn't sound promising for the following week either. Honestly, we might need to get to the SB to have him play for us again. At the very least it will be AFC championship

Completely disagree. What do you base these opinions on? The injury did not tear anything. It's not a high ankle sprain or a hip problem. If he was given the green light this week he would have been playing. By his own admission he was believing that he could. I think he knows his body better than any one speculating on a message board.

It's a good thing we played our starters in a meaningless game. @ indy with a week 17 bye for our staters or home vs Ravens. I'd gladly take @ indy with the rest.

Well we will see what this team is made of tmrw.. either this team will rise up and rally around each other or they lay down since so much of the O goes threw Bell..... Hopefully Bell gets to play nxt week...... I can't stand the thought of loosing to the Ravens...:steelflag:

Going to be interesting since Tomlin wanted to run Bell till the wheels fell off, now that one wheel has fallen off, lets see how well Tomlin and Co developed the backups. Tomlin was reluctant to remove Bell for many of the snaps, Archer coming in for a few now and then, Harris not so much. Guess we will see tomorrow.

How can you call a game for ANOTHER Division Championship a meaningless game?

Indy in doors at home versus Ravens at Steelers outside. I'll take this game every year.

With no tear or structural damage, the injury normally takes 2-4 weeks to heal. Given the demands of playing football, 2 weeks would be a very generous return date.

I don't have the medical degrees most of the posters here have, but after watching the way his knee went on replay, I was just hoping he could walk to the game Saturday.

Absolutely. No short term or long term sense to it.

I'm not sure you can say that Parker broke his leg purely as a result of general wear and tear. He didn't keep running until the bone just wore down and broke.

I'm hoping that Harris and Archer both have a chance to shine. I'm expecting Harris to play with some nerves, and struggle for yardage (as Bell did against this same team); and I also want us to get a chance for Archer to show his speed in the open field.

And if he had rested the starters, people would be all over him for giving up on the division championship and breaking the form of the starters.

You don't give up on a division championship just in case your starting RB gets hurt.

No one rest starters with a division championship on the line, I've never heard such a thing. Tomlin can't win.

I would have waited until game time to announce this...list him as questionable or whatever and then when the list comes out for the inactives before the game...BAM he's on it. While I'm sure the Ravens expected this and have been preparing for it, still might have given a slight advantage.

And as far as those calling for resting the starters last week. You play to win the game! Haha! And how many times have we seen teams rest all their starters then come out crappy and loose the next week?! You can't play timid in this league just because a player might get hurt...it happens all the time...players get hurt every game...and nobodys going to rest players each and every week just to be safe. Crap happens and you move on...they made the right decision, the end!
