OK so now is your chance to play for a winner. We aren't going to put up with your antics. Play hard run hard take a seat when bell gets back.

My buddy just texted me he is normally pretty on top of this stuff. I haven't found any actual links to back it up. I hope he is wrong.

I usually could care less about salary cap stuff, but 6.2 over two years would be highly questionable.

Let's hope we get the Ben Tate that averaged 4.75 yards per carry and not the Ben Tate the Browns signed.

Good call! That was the Browns deal. It included $2.5 Mil guaranteed. The Steelers aren't going to give him anywhere remotely near that. It's likely going to be pretty meager, with a relatively small signing bonus.

Either way, he'll only be getting a $24K game check for Saturday.

Before this season if you'd told me that we would have signed Tate, I would have been ecstatic. He was a bruiser backing up Foster in Texas. He fits the mold of a Steeler back, that's for sure. I know this is a signing born of necessity but he could be a viable long term backup to Bell.

Let's actually hope that he is not needed at all but is only on the roster in case Harris, Johnson or Archer go down. If Tate takes one handoff against the Rats I'd be very surprised since there is no way he will know beyond 10% of the playbook going into this game.

Tomlin said a motivate man, with the amount of time he has, can learn. Time will tell if Tate is a motivated man.

Tate isn't going to touch the ball a whole lot Sat, just no way. Unfortunately, what this signing tells me is, Bell is done for the year, hope I'm wrong but Tate is here for if we advance past Saturday.

I think it is more of a situation in which they are going to be very careful with Bell. Tate is insurance just in case Bell can't go if we get past Baltimore. I would think Bell could go if we get to the AFC Championship game. In addition Tate could be auditioning for the back up running back spot next year. Granted he was not happy in Cleveland but with all the dysfunction that has come out lately with the Browns can you blame the guy. Maybe a change of scenery and a taste of playoff football will be just what the doctor ordered for Mr. Tate.

I agree with most of what you usually say, but I have to disagree with both of your points here. The signing was the right thing to do. Even if Bell does play, you have to be concerned that he is ineffective or gets re-injured. So the signing was the Steelers just doing the right thing, not indicative of Bell being done for the year in any way. Second, to say Tate gets a limited amount of touches, to me is just dismissive. He last saw action on Dec 14th. The amount of snaps / carries he has is more dependent upon the success of Josh Harris. Should Harris go out and run for 80+ yards, you won't see much of Tate. Should Harris go out and get less than 5 yards on his first 3 carries, you will see Tate.

I dont want Bell playing in this game, the thug Suggs would just target his bad knee and we dont need that to happen, Bells knee flexed too many degrees in the wrong direction to risk putting him in this game period....
