In Harbaugh I think you would get a better
evaluator of talent. He has a big ego, like all professional ballplayers, coaches. You get that too.
He will be coaching the Michigan Wolverines next year.

I think there's something to the Michigan connection. If he goes to Michigan, expect them to be in the national championship hunt by 2017 at the latest.

ALL pro athletes have a big ego? Tomlinson, Polamalu didn't. I don't recall Barry Sanders or Payton having that "Look at me!" attitude. Some do have that over-the-top Ego. Deion, Richard Sherman, Revis. Those guys can back it up though. Then there are those with an over-inflated ego. They seem to think they're WAY better than they really are like Harbaugh, or Kraperdick.

When you have been given everything since the
7th grade, these exceptional God given athletes
feel they are entitled to everything. Because they do what they do so easily, now granted there are a few exceptions out there but not many. Most of these players/coaches feel pretty good about themselves LOL. They live a total different life style than you and me. And have since the 7th grade.

I agree and there is one common theme and it starts up front. I can tell how a game is going to go in the 1st quarter, if Ben has to scamble on every drop back it is going to be a long game, he ends up throwing high and it is every time. If they can keep him clean for a bit he'll do well, go back to the Ravens game, we couldn't do much and then the o-line was beginning to get it together and they began to move the ball and score. Go to the Jets Game , Titans, and the Saints, the same thing, Ben is running for his life or is throwing with a collapsing pocket, and good defensive coordinators seem to be able to do that. The Titans problem was they couldn't stop the run at all, if they had the Lbers like the Jets, we would have lost that game and while we could run against the Saints, we couldn't score enough points because after the first quarter it was obvious the defense wasn't going to get a stop with the game still winnable. Yes, I defend Ben because he shows how good he can be yet he is supposed to keep throwing darts when guys are that close he hits them with his follow through, I don't have to compare Brady or P.Manning to him because I saw what both of those guys look like when under pressure, 43-8 ring a bell. I honestly believe that they should just continue to run the ball and not even bother to drop back and pass until we can get some real offensive tackles and a replacement for Foster, that guy misses so many blocks it isn't even funny.

With Lebeau's resume, you can't tell me Colbert and Tomlin don't ask for his opinion on who to take...

Harbaugh's pet project sucks right now Kapernick, the 49ers can keep him and his big ego.

Tomlin isn't going anywhere. Noll missed the playoff 7 out of his last 8 seasons and Cowher missed the palyoffs 5 out of his last 9 seasons and neither were let go.

I see where you're going, but easy on the Tomlin --> Noll comparisons. When MT wins 4 SBs in 6 seasons, then we can talk about him keeping the job as long as he wants it.

The clock is ticking on Tomlin, but the Rooneys just aren't the type to push people out this soon.

What is going on in San Francisco anyway? Why would a team that suffered so many abysmal seasons want to blow the whole thing up? Harbaugh has a 43-17-1 record in 4 seasons. Why would a team want to part ways with such a successful coach?

With their brand new stadium, maybe they're afraid he'll mess it up with the gray matter when his head blows up!

Sometimes personality clashes trump all. I've seen it in the corporate world many times where two very effective people simply clash, and it makes them both (and people around them) less effective. Any team that hires Harbaugh needs to have a GM that is not an in-your-face volatile kind of person, and needs to allow Harbaugh to do his alpha male thing. In that type of situation, I think Harbaugh would be fine. I think it's indisputable that he dramatically improved the 49ers from day 1. This season he has been torpedoed by the management conflict and a regressing QB.

I was listening to talk radio yesterday and this subject came up. One of the commentators compared him to pat riley, great coach but a complete ass. The type of person you can only have around for 3-4 years and then it's time to move on.

That is EXACTLY what I've said. It sounds to me like there are just TOO many alpha males and TOO many babies. However, Cowher went to a lot of AFC Championships really and there were still people that wanted rid of him. Not from an ownership perspective but at least among fans. This is really the kind of thing you would expect to hear from the most ridiculous of knee jerk fans. NOT ownership. The 9ers have had a lot of shadiness going on with ownership and coaches for a long time now. Since Mariucci really.

Rooney will never hire Harbaugh as coach.

    The reason is simple.

Rooney has to let Tomlin coach for another decade or two.

I know a kid who was recruited by Stanford when harbaugh was there. harbaugh came to a game and met with player but would not meet with high school coach.
he told the kid that he didn't want a high school coach trying to ask him about x's and o's. came to kids house after game. it was a Friday night tradition in this town for people to stay up and celebrate wins. all his family was over and harbaugh would not come in. met him at school next day.

needless to say the kid went to Vanderbilt. will tell you that harbaugh was one of the rudest people he ever met
