Is it hard for the defense to keep confidence when they give up big plays?
It’s less about the defense and more about the people. One of the things that’s positive about our group is we have some guys back there that have played some football like Troy (Polamalu) and Ike (Taylor), Mike Mitchell and Will Gay they’re not young people. They’re able to flush it out, move forward, and understand that the next snap is the most important one. It would be better if we minimized them.

After the AJ Green touchdown, did you decide to stay with Ike?
    I did, it’s on me.

I will be glued to the press conference tomorrow to see if anyone has the stones to ask Tomlin about keeping Taylor on the bench. And Troy as well. Coach, nice win, but you can't prance Toast out there expecting better results.
Besides Gay, the other three older guys have been a detriment. Blake and McCain have brought more fire and should be starting.

I have a bad feeling Tomlin will once again send Ike out there next week. He's a very status quo kind of guy who seems unwilling to make changes when they're needed.

Ike has a hurt knee and shoulder as well now, good chance he might not even play.

Maybe, but he shouldn't sit because of injury, he should sit because of ineffectiveness. At least Blake and McCain seem to be fairly heady football players even if they may not possess the physical attributes of Ike. They usually seem to be in position and aren't chasing the receiver from 15 yards behind after they've bitten on the out and up. Taylor's not a hard guy to outsmart and now that his physical abilities are diminishing he needs to ride the pine all the way out of Dodge.

How did he do that? He was actually praising them for their ability to focus on the next play and not lose confidence.

I'm afraid to say that I agree with Shaner (not theres something wrong with Shaner- more because I don't want to see Ike playing)... that Tomlin will let Ike play again.

He has a hurt knee and shoulder injury, Ike will have the argument that he has been waiting since that arm was broken and that he needs to get back into the rhythm to be productive.

I have always been critical of Ike but I do think he tries to play through injuries. I could be wrong, but if I just use this last game as an example, he got "shook" up on that play and was back in right after it. One snap isn't enough to make an injury go away.

The minute Taylor left the game everything came together. Taylor should stop with his negative expressions play after play because he clearly was being a virus on this team. Blake came in and did a wonderful job and made some great defensive plays. Ike shouldn't see the field again in a Steelers uniform....

Ike stayed a year too long,he's done. It was cracking me up yesterday watching how he was getting so upset when he was a step late on breaking on the ball. Does he have amnesia as well,he knows he can't catch.

unfortunately, despite how well blake and McCain played, we have no one in the secondary capable of covering Julio jones..... this one is going to come down to the pass rush... we need to smack matt ryan in the mouth early and often in order to minimize the damage jones can do.... that said, ike definitely needs to be on the bench and gone next yr.

Hopefully Lebeau will let them loose like we did against the Colts. We will need to be aggressive on both sides of the ball. It will probably be high scoring and the D will have to take chances,if we sit back we are dead.

Yep. AJG is easier to be physical with. Julio is a beast and we don't have anyone on our team that can shut him down. He's too big and strong, not to mention blazing fast

Is anyone else concerned that in this press conference Tomlin said he doesn't pay attention to the runs they are making? He said Decasto made some good pulls but he wasn't looking at the direction they were going or which side the run was going to. I realize that he gets all zen and likes to experience the game as it happens around him but come on he isn't looking at where they are running? My favorite comment has to be about Bryant's long TD. "We don't live in our fears?" so are you afraid of throwing deep? Afraid of letting a rookie have the ball, you don't let little things like being backed up in your own endzone dictate your play calling? That fear doesn't allow you to have a game plan? Just what the heck does not living in your fears mean? Throw me a bone here coach.

Concerned? I'm mostly concerned that we have good coaching from Munchak and Haley and very good talent in areas on our team, so we'll win despite Tomlin's horrid coaching and he'll be back next year. That's what I'm concerned about. It doesn't surprise me that Tomlin isn't watching the play, the guy has no clue what's going on. He's a cheerleader on the field, and not much more. The guy is a joke of a head coach. He's lucky we have Ben, Bell and Brown, as well as Haley and Munchak to bail his dumb ass out.

That was odd, but I have to think he's just blowing smoke. He says stuff like that from time to time, and I have to think it's because he (and the organization) seem to be more concerned about revealing strategy than some other teams, and it can sometimes come off like he's clueless.

You have a lot more faith than I do. There's no strategic reason whatsoever for Tomlin to say what he did. When I watch shows like SoundFX on the NFL network, all I see is Tomlin acting like a cheerleader on the sidelines. It seems like that's all he does, whereas basically every other coach in all pro sports hardly crack a smile because they're too busy planning for the rest of the game.

Thats exactly what he is doing, by giving that response he is cutting off any follow up questions that would no doubt be in regards to strategy.

Does anyone ever listen to a Bellichick presser? The guy says absolutely nothing, at least Tomlin is entertaining.

I get keeping Decasto and the OL grounded, not giving strategy away but that was bizarre. Plus it's not as if he hasn't said before that they saw some things to exploit and what they were going to try. Again he is entertaining I would love to see someone take his press conferences and dub in soundbites from yoda. Lol
