I meant that I was looking to see if he'd been picked up by any other team.

Also, when would be a good time for the Steelers to go out and get him?

    but who ?

iwas talking about that we have personell to play 3-4 defense (hojo jjones moats and a draft pick will be taken in the next draft .
if we switch to the 4-3 we are empty as a defensiv ends position and we should bring at least 3 in the next draft or free agency .so very difficult we change to 4-3 or at least we would have more problem to find personell to fill the team

    No, but there isn't one.
He was just speculating. Probably right, but speculating.

So you are expecting it to happen as well? I really don't know. The real intrigue for me is gonna be whether Haley stays. I would be really surprised if he got the boot but has anyone sounded off on that issue? Also, just out of curiosity, do you, or anyone else know, if Ike is gonna be fined for his late hit and altercation on the sideline yesterday? Or was the penalty all he got? That was a really stupid play and I thought he might actually draw a fine for it. Just curious if you know is all.

seems pretty evident that lebeau can't stay after this season . love the guy but right now is more a problem than a solution .. i'm happy with the hailey job i would be shocked if they fire him unless there are problems inside locker room that i don't see

As much as I like the discussion it seems a few weeks and a month or more premature. If DL is retired then it becomes is there a new DC of is the gentlemen's agreement that everyone alludes to with Butler going to take place? Then it becomes Butler/New Guy and what they want to run and if you can put together enough pieces to have a successful 4-3 or 3-4 hybrid, or tons of sub packages. as far as the front seven go I don't think it takes two years, look at what Zimmer has done in MN, he didn't convert them but he did bring in a lot of middle of the pack guys and draft some players that people thought were reaches and his defense is tough to play against. They aren't there yet but theyh are still tough in their first year. So it all becomes who and what and once that is decided I think the choice of NT or DT becomes more clear.

OK, got you now. Thought you were talking about replacing the OLBs after this year. HoJo would be great to pick back up if they're looking at losing Worilds...

One thing about Lebeau that irks me a bit is he has gotten more cautious in his old age.

That Colts game was the first time in a long time he took the dogs off the leash. Thats how we used to play.

If Dick Lebeau is gone next year, I'd bring in Rex Ryan as DC.

Is Louis Nix on the Texans' 53-man roster? If he's only on their practice squad maybe we can swipe him.

It's a lot easier to find pass rushers in the 4-3 than it is in our system. Our system relies on the NT and DE's to take up blockers. It also relies on the OLB to be able to beat their man. Quite simply, it relies on too many good things to happen. Without everyone playing at the top of their game, no one has success. The 4-3 is so much simpler. Line up a guy and tell him to beat his man.

Yeah, I'd be happy to give Rex a chance at DC. He's a terrible head coach and has no clue how to build an offence or develop a QB, but he's a good defensive coach.

yes could be simpler but where are the defensive ends ? do you start two rookies , do we have money for a good def end on free agency ?

I think a line of Tuitt-McClendon-?-Heyward stacked with Shazier-Timmons-JJ would be pretty formidable. I'd like to keep Tuitt and Heyward on the edge, as those two guys, while not overly explosive or fast, would be very powerful on the edge and able to make some things happen in 1-on-1 matchups. Just not sure who that 4th lineman would be (Zilla, Mountain, draft pick?) A line like that would resemble the dominant Packers line in the 90's, where Reggie White and Sean Jones simply overpowered the OT's rather than relying on speed/athleticism.

I like our LB's more in a 4-3 than a 3-4 anyway, as I think the 3 of them (Shazier, Timmons, JJ) need some heavy DL protection to work their magic, especially Shazier, which they aren't getting with our current DL in the 3-4.

I'm assuming Worilds will be gone.

All the playoff contenders are playing the 3-4, but of course they have players who can actually pass rush the QB, and DBs who can cover receivers, we dont have the quality of players to play a 3-4 or a 4-3, with no plan in place the last several years to up grade the defensive positions most in need this is what we have ended up with..........

That should've been their priority in the 2014 draft.

I agree with most but I think ILB is the last in priority. Spence, Williams and Timmons aren't pro bowlers but are good enough. I think they would be better if we had a solid NT and at least one strong consistent passing rushing outside lineback.
