Cleveland has released rb Ben Tate. Is this someone the Steelers should be interested in if something happens to Blount?

Ben Tate was released by the exact same reason that Blount should be. No thanks.

If Tate was unhappy about not starting in Cleveland, he'll be really unhappy here.

    Ben Tate available

just heard that Ben Tate got cut by the Browns. he played well against us in both games. had pretty good numbers with the Texans. Can he be the replacement for Blount?

I think something will happen during the bye week.

This problem runs deeper than the Titans game if the player quote is to be believed.

It might be worth a phone call to Tate's agent to see if he's willing to take a backup role this season. If he is, he's worth adding. If he knows he's coming into a backup role he's probably not going to make any waves. If he isn't interested in a backup role, then no, he's not even worth considering. We would be replacing one problem with another. He wouldn't sign with us anyway, because he's not going to beat out Bell and he knows that.

    Blount needs to go though
