I'll go on record as to say that Bubby got jobbed in Denver towards the end of his career!

Whatever, got to throw in an unrelated topic here for poops and giggles to lighten the mood.

but I do really think he did.

The Steelers have had a lot of bad luck in Denver. They lost twice in 1976-77 to 38 year old Craig Morton, lost a heart breaker in 1990 and then there was Tebow..... Thank goodness for the Jake Plummer game.

I'm saying that Bubby got shafted by the Broncs... When they had the remnants of a good team. Would've like to see what he could do in his mature state.

    Although looking at the evidence:
He must have been about 40 by that point, though?

That's always the first thing I think of when Bubby's name is mentioned. I believe he was coming to Pittsburgh to play a game and was asked what is the hardest thing about playing at 3 rivers. His quote: You get some nasty weather coming off the Lake.

Mac, I thought we was like this and that. Why you bustin on me like that? Ha-ha. You do know my first name is Dick. I also was replaced one time as Company Gunnery Sergeant by a guy named Richard Head who also went by Dick. Saw him punch a guy one time with his left hand and the guy went straight down. If I was a gunny that would make it 15 years before I retired and I been retired 18 years. I think the guy he hit is still laying there.

You talking about the season after Elway retired? In '99? Brister was still on the team, but they started Brian Griese. The Bubster was a 37 yr old guy who hadn't been a starter in 5 yrs. I can't hate Denver for not wanting to build around a guy like that. So, no, I can't agree he got shafted.

As I posted above, he actually started 4 games the year before, and was undefeated in all of them.

Though I think it's fair enough that a team would go for the young guy over the 80 year old. I bet they were kicking themselves for not holding on to Tommy Maddox...

He got 2 SB rings that he never would have gotten anywhere else, especially as a starter..............Nah, don't feel bad for him at all!

I don't care what anyone says. I always liked Bubby and always will. :D Sure, he wasn't the most talented QB, but I liked him anyway. (And he had the mentality of a LB)

Bubby still owes me a TV. After throwing one of his many horrible interceptions, I punched the side of the TV and it flickered and went blank. Still had sound but no picture. Thanks Bubby!

my trouble with bubby was the way he acted to the fans. we used to go, sometimes before but mostly after games at 3 rivers, to the locker room entrance and talk with stoney, carnell, shawn Vincent, woodson once in awhile and tunch. stoney would get us inside once in awhile. these guys would sign until everyone got an autograph and talk with fans, but bubby wouldn't come out until his limo would pull up and get escorted out by his ( what looked like bodyguards) and his dark glasses on, never signing and autograph or even acknowledging a fan and whisked away. like some foreign dignitary or rock star or something. like the fans were beneath him. heck we used to go to dinner with stoney or carnell once in awhile. these guys were pretty genuine and always took the time to speak with people. even chaz noll was like that. not the bubbster.

Did you also like him when he changed his style of play? like run back 5 steps and assume the fetal position?
