I think they would need to go 5-1 down the stretch, if they go 4-2 then it will most likely come down to tie breakers. Ideally they need to sweep the Bengals, the Steelers have 2 losses in the division and 3 conference losses. They can't afford anymore bad losses to losing teams, it's a good thing the Raiders aren't on the schedule this season :lolol:

    Right! :lolol:

Seriously, though, I agree with the 5-1 run. I wouldn't be too mad if they dropped a game to the Saints or the Falcons. Any loss should be to an NFC team, for sure. It preserves the Steelers' standings in case of tie-breakers.

The Falcons are one of the worst teams in the league, we can't be losing to teams like that

Agreed, but if they do then better it be an NFC loss.

Personally, after watching the 3-game stretch at Heinz, I think they should win out.

Note this difference... I think they SHOULD. I don't know if they WILL.

I was telling somebody the other day that if I was a Raider I'd be dying to play the Steelers right now. LOL.

Offhand, I agree with you. And that may be for a wild card. Steelers should just win out to be safe.

Since Cincy has a tie in their record.. there will be zero ties or tie-breakers to worry about with them. Unless the Steelers tie a game somewhere.

I'm almost shocked to think that any Steelers fans could be thinking that we couldn't lose to any sub par team

Our only hope to make the playoffs is to win the division we have too many AFc losses and if we don't beat Kansas City and Cincinnatiwe will not even have a chance at the wildcard

I said we can't be losing to teams like that, meaning if we want to make the playoffs we need to beat the bad teams. I never said we would beat them. Honestly, I wouldn't bet on the Steelers against the Falcons.

I agree-- if there is any chance of going into playoffs, there can't be any more losing to a team like that.

4-2, should get you in the playoffs (5th or 6th seed) , 5-1 would win the division I would believe.

KC is my worry. they always give us a tough time and I'm sure they are in that sub par team loss column somewhere. they beat us up usually too. physically.

:this!: One loss over the next six absolutely does not eliminate this team. I would venture to say even 4-2 over the next six could very will win the division, IF either one or both of the losses are NFC. Remember, no AFCN team has more that 6 wins right now. CLE has IND, BAL, and CIN yet while their BUF and HOU games are no pushovers. BAL is at NO & MIA, and also has SD & CLE yet. My point is....I think 10-6 does win the division and it will come down to the December 28th games. A PIT win that last weekend, even with two losses between now and then, will give them either the division or a WC berth...imo.

....And as bi-polar as this team is, just getting in is all we can ask.

For sure.... Even though nothing is 'normal' with this team and looking beyond one week is a fool's errand, if you assume the way the odds will likely stack up, assume a split with the Bengals, a split with Saints/Falcons, and wins against Tennessee and Kansas City, we're 10-6 at the end. My doomsday scenario there, however, is the 3-way tie with the Ravens and Browns (Bengals finish 9-6-1 which I think would be the highest .pct of a last-place division team EVER) that ends when the Ravens beat the Browns in week 17. In that scenario, the Ravens win the tiebreaker since they would have swept the Browns (the sweeping of them by the Bengals becomes irrelevant in the HTH). I like our chances in the 2-way tie with the Browns or Ravens....the 3-way tie is the killer. Could still sneak in with a wildcard especially if we beat the Chiefs, but I don't think this is the road warrior team of old....

For now, just beat the Titans and get healthy in the bye....

Yeah of all the teams left on our schedule they will give us the most fits. They have a strong front 7 that can disrupt our entire offense. Luckily, I don't see them putting up a lot of points on us so it is winnable if we can hold some blocks at key moments.

I normally try to figure these things, but there's still too many permutations right now, and I haven't worked up the energy to try.
But, at 5-1 they'd almost certainly win the division, especially if they sweep Ciny. As Cincy you'll be 10-5-1, and Pit would hold a tiebreaker on Balt with 4 wins.

At 10-6, they very well could win the division. but would very likely get a WC. Very few 10-6 teams miss. It could happen, but I doubt it.

9-7 is the world of the iffy.
