Here it is, folks. The complete, full rundown of bad losses and bad wins since 2007. Please note that Bruce Arians, leader of the 8-1 Cardinals, was the OC from 2007 through 2011.

    Enjoy...

    2007
9/30: Steelers go into Phoenix, lose to Matt Leinert and the Cardinals 21-14
10/21: Coming out of the bye week, the Steelers lose to the 2-3 Broncos, who had just lost three games in a row. Steelers had two weeks to prepare for a team on the ropes and choked.
11/18: Steelers lose to the 1-8 Jets (sound familiar) with HOFer Kellen Clemens at QB.

    2008
9/14: Steelers struggle against Cleveland (finishes 4-12) and win 10-6
10/5: Steelers need a late TD pass to beat Jax (5-11 on the season).

    2009
10/11: Dante Culpepper and the 1-3 Lions (would finish 2-14) nearly beat the Steelers, as Culpepper throws for 282 yards.
11/22: Steelers lose in OT to 2-7 KC and Matt Cassel.
12/6: The 3-8 Raiders come into Heinz Field and win 27-24, behind Gradkowski's 308 passing yards.
12/10: The 1-11 Browns (with Brady Quinn at QB) beat the Steelers 13-6.

    2010
10/24: Steelers catch a break on a Roethlisberger fumble at the goal line to beat (eventual 7-9) Miami with Chad Henne at QB, 23-22.
11/28: A would-be, game-winning OT TD pass is dropped by Stevie Johnson, and the Steelers beat 2-8 Buffalo, 19-16, despite blowing a 13-0 lead.

    2011
9/25: A late Suisham field goal saves the Steelers, as Lance Painter and the Colts nearly win the game.
10/16: Steelers survive a scare from 1-4 Jacksonville, at home, 17-13.
11/27: Steelers hold off Pro Bowler Tyler Palko and the 4-6 Chiefs, 13-9.
12/8: Steelers fail to put away Colt McCoy and the 4-8 Browns until a late TD pass from Ben, win 14-3.
1/1: Again, the Steelers can't put away Cleveland, squeak by 13-9.
1/8: Tim Tebow throws for 316 yards, his only 300-yard passing game of his infamous career. Steelers get bounced from playoffs, 29-23.*

*A good thing, too, because they'd have faced the Pats the following week and would have been thoroughly embarrassed.

    2012
9/23: Steelers go into Oakland and blow a 31-21 4th quarter lead against the Raiders, who finish 4-12 that season.
10/11: On Thursday night, Steelers blow another late lead to a bad team, this team against (eventual) 6-10 Tennessee.
11/12: Steelers need OT to beat 1-7 KC AT HOME, 16-13!
11/25: Steelers commit 8 turnovers and lose to 2-8 Cleveland, 20-14.
12/9: The 4-8 Chargers, on a 4-game losing streak, come into Heinz and paste the Steelers, 34-24.

    2013
9/8: Shane Locker leads the (7-9 on the season) Titans in a win at Heinz, 16-9.
9/29: 0-3 Minnesota, with Matt Cassel at QB, beat the Steelers, 34-27
10/27: Another loss to a bad Raiders team, 21-18, led by Terrelle Pryor!
12/8: A 6-6 Miami team, comes into Heinz, where the wind chill is 16 degrees, and beats the Steelers 34-28.

    2014
9/28: Steelers lose at home to Mike Glennon and the unstoppable Bucaneers.
11/9: After scoring 94 points in their two previous games, the Steelers stink up Met Life Stadium and lose to the 1-8 Jets.

As long as it's a win then I'm fine with it. The losses suck tho.

I notice a lot of those losses are close scoring too. Why can't the offense consistently put up points?

Do any of those games have anything in common?

PS. We're viewing wins as negatives now?

While a win is a win, it is still worth noting that on that list are teams that we really should have easily been able to handle and, yet, barely squeaked out a win. The point being that we play down to lesser teams -whether its a loss or a game we barely managed to win.

Ok. But as long as they beat the teams they should beat then I'm not complaining. All 32 teams are employing pro players, after all... :lolol:

There is a problem here whether you want to ignore it or not. A win is a win yes, but there is an absolute pattern of under achieving here.

Let's not forget one of those games cost us the playoffs last year.

If I remember correctly if we would have won 10 games the season before we would have made it too, so losing these games we should win have cost us the playoffs in the past, and just might agian...and again and again.

There was many people on this board last week at this time saying there was NO WAY we would lose to the Jets.....NO WAY.....yet here we are.

Anyone wan't to guarantee a win against the Titans?

Yeah, I will, book it. Chances of DL losing to a rookie QB are slim to none.

As for the list, I bet I can come up with similar ones for just about every team not manned by Brady or Peyton. You guys are obsessed with this stuff. This year more than ever should be proof of how hard it is to win in the NFL, look past your own backyard, this is happening all over the NFL.

I get what your saying, but I'm basing all of what I'm saying off the past 5 years. The line from success to failure in the NFL gets thinner every year yes, but this exact thing is NOT happening all over the NFL, the only places this is happening is on other teams that don't make the playoffs.

The most comparable team is the Chargers and then the Cowboys, Franchise QB...talented roster no playoffs.

No, it's not wasted. I see the point, it's just honestly I'm through with excuses, if you want to be a championship caliber team SHOW IT.

Sustain winning streaks, ride the momentum. It's ok to fall into a trap game, or come out flat against an inferior opponent, just not at the rate this team does it.

Look at the other threads...this team can't beat bad teams. They only consistency this team shows is the ability to be disappointing.

I'm not a sky is falling type, it's just painfully obvious at this point.

The only team that is comparable is the Giants. They've won two Super Bowls during seasons where they've looked awful at times. And like the Steelers, they had their share of injuries throughout. Most every other team doesn't have a two-time SB-winning QB at the helm.

If the Steelers were squeaking by a bad team once in a while, that's one thing. But it's 2-3 times a season, on top of the losses.

Ignore the list all you want. "Common sense" dictates that we have a head coach incapable of getting his team prepared week in and week out. This is a pattern.

That is correct. In both the 2012 and 2013 seasons the Steelers were in the playoff picture until the last week and they were 8-8. Tie-breakers cost them because they lost to several fellow AFC conference teams they should have beat. I think you listed some of them: CLE, SD, OAK (to name a few). Additionally, they didn't win the division.

I was not one saying we would definitely beat the Jets. I had to tell a fellow co-worker and Steelers fan that it wasn't a lock. This team needs to learn how to impose the Heinz field dominance on the road.

I'm not guaranteeing a win against the Titans, but I do think the Steelers will win.

Add to that it is a MNF game and magic happens for this team on Mondays
I'll call it a win as well.

It is though, at least this year and I don't have nearly enough desire to chart every team for the last 8 years.

I mean its one thing to get on Tomlin for having the record he does against sub 500 teams but this list compiles wins too, we have to crush these teams now? You said yourself, the line between winning and losing gets thinner every year.

Wrong (if we're including wins as negatives too)...

    Lets look at the Patriots...

    2014
9/7 The Pats lose on opening day to the 3rd place Miami Dolphins.
9/21 The Pats beat the winless (still) Raiders 16-9 at home and need a last minute INT on the goal line by a DL to secure the win.
10/16 The Pats need a blocked FG with under 5 minutes to go in game to defeat the 1-6 NY Jets...AT HOME.

    2013
9/8 The Patriots need a field goal with 5 seconds remaining in the game to beat the 2012 last place Bills 23-21
9/12 Just 4 days later the Patriots score ZERO second half points and barely hold off the 2012 3rd place Jets 13-10.
10/20 This time the Pats lose the rematch to the Jets 30-27 in overtime.
12/15 The Patriots lose at Miami 24-20 as Brady throws a pick in the EZ with 2 seconds left.

    2012
9/16 The Patriots lose their home opener to the ARIZONA CARDINALS and back up QB Kevin Kolb 20-18
10/21 The Pats need overtime to squeak by the lowly Jets and Mark Sanchez 29-26
12/23 The Pats need a 4th quarter TD from Brady and two late defensive ints in the red zone to beat the 2-12 Jacksonville Jaguars 23-16

    2011
9/25 The Pats blow a lead and give up 17 4th quarter points, including a Brady pick 6, to lose to the 2010 last place (4-12) Bills 34-31
10/16 The Pats need a last second TD pass to beat Dallas (who went on to a 6-10 record) 20-16
12/24 The Pats (11-3) hold on to beat a 5-9 Miami team 27-24

    Should I go on?

    But....................................................
Most of those Pats squeakers were against division rivals. Rivals will usually put up a fight from time to time, due to having knowledge of the other team more. Our steelers have most of their losses or squeakers against non divisional and non conference opponents. This is not a good comparison. This really shows, that we are not prepared. Agree with OP, 100%.

To be a fair comparison, the lists need to show ALL of the games against sub .500 teams. I recall a few good ones on our end that aren't listed. However, if you add in the Pats' games you'll see several blowouts of "bad" teams every season:

Just this season: 30-7 vs. Minnesota; 37-22 at Buffalo; 51-23 vs. Chicago.
Last season: 23-3 vs. Tampa, 55-31 vs. the Steelers, 41-7 @ Balt; 34-20 vs. Buffalo
    2012: 34-13 @ Tennessee; 52-28 @ Buffalo; 45-7 @ St. Louis; 49-19 @ Jets; 28-0 vs. Miami.

The list could go on. Bellichick is probably the best in the league at taking care of business.
