He can't stay on the field, and when he has played I haven't been impressed. He looks small out on the field, it's still early in his career but he hasn't shown anything when he has played. I didn't like the pick anyway because that's 2 first round picks at ILB with Shazier and Timmons, the OLB's are the stars of a 3/4 defense.

He's injury prone. Other than that I am willing to see what he can do on the field.

Also, OLBs definitely have to perform, but haven't the captains of the 3-4 been ILBs? I can't recall but I think that was Farrior's spot.

He looks electric to me, when on the field. Injuries are unfortunate, but not too many LB's in the league can match his closing ability. Once he figures things out in this defense, he'll be special. A habitual candidate to lead the league in tackles. Everyone has their own opinion, and mine is that he's far from a bust.

I think he is talented. Injuries have hampered him thus far. Speed is his #1 weapon. I think you have to give a person 3 years before giving them a bust tag. Look at Cameron Heyward for example he looked lost and not very good his first couple years, he has really come into his own now. Dick Lebeau runs a complex defense to boot, there is a reason you hardly ever see a rookie start on the Steelers. Give him time to get healthy and I think you will get impressed.

Come on dude... That's weak lol 9 games? He looked pretty darn against Indy, and looks like he's starting to come around despite being injured early on. I'm not really worried about his injuries either. Two freak plays... One where he took Timmons helmet to the knee, then the other where he got his leg pinned to the ground and his ankle rolled up on. It doesn't matter how big you are with ankle/knee injuries. I said this in another thread I think, but I'd be more worried if he was pulling hammys and tearing muscles. Remember that Bell was an injury prone bust last year after 9 games and a 3 YPC average. So was Heyward when he didnt start till his third season. "Bust" threads shouldn't be allowed for first year players. It's ridiculous.

Is this a joke thread? I thought it was just tradition that our 1st rounders get injured their first year. <---- see that's how you tell a joke.

I wonder if someone will give us a 2015 4th rounder for him after the season?

The injury against the Ravens would have taken anyone out of the game - not just him. He definitely is NOT a bust. When he is totally healthy, he is FAST!

I think everyone else has said what I was going to.

Calling someone a bust after 9 games is just silly. It's not like he's looked lost out there. He's made some rookie mistakes in tackling, but that's probably because he's a rookie.

People need to look at the actual details of situations and not just the flat stats. Take injuries for example. Not all injuries are equal, so just saying he hasn't been out on the field much doesn't really mean anything. If the injuries were down to size, conditioning, recurrent problems etc. then that's one thing. If it's guys rolling up on you, that's something else. Unfortunately, when people just look at the stats of how much time someone's played, they miss out all the actual, meaningful details.

Name ONE Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker that became a good player after their 9th game. Can't do it, can you? Shazier is done.

:lolol: It's funny because you could probably say that about all our current inside linebackers.

Way too early to call him a bust. Still not sure I like the pick, but that doesn't mean he's a bust. I don't think he can cover the better TE's in the league, so I think we could have used that pick on a true area of need, while filling our ILB spot with a proven veteran like a Dansby.

Agree with TTf. Troy missed a bunch of games and we never called him a bust. Let Shazier get beat up this year. He'll adapt, watch and see.

I think it is way to early to call the guy a bust. Both of his injuries were bad luck and could have happen to anyone. They were not of his fault so to call him injury prone does not fit. I think the guy will be good when he can get settled in and start playing. I think he has a nose for the ball and will be a solid tackler.

This is spot on. Anyone calling Heyward a bust? Guy has turned into a very good player.

I'm pretty sure people were calling Troy a bust his first couple of years. I agree Shazier will be fine.

Aren't you the guy who said it would be a mistake to re-sign James Harrison?
    Shazier is not a bust.
Where do people come up with this nonsense ?

Ughhh Christ, I really wish people would look up the definition of a "bust" before calling players one  People need to remove this word from their vocabulary until then

Google JaMarcus Russell if you really need an example.....THAT is a bust!
