I hope this is finally the start of something big in the second half of the season. I have been waiting for the steelers offense to put up a performance like the one today over the past 3 seasons.

Week-to-week consistency has plagued every team in the league this year. I hope we can buck the trend.

The lack of a pass rush by the Colts contributed a lot to the 51 points scored: A bigger concern was the Defense giving up 34 points all though they scored 9 of the 51 points, giving up 34 points cant happen Sunday because the rats will win if they get 34 points and pressure Ben like they usually do..........

Not that alarming coming from the Colts, they've gone over 40 twice, 30 twice and right at the door step two more games with 27.

I thought the defense look really good.

The lack of pass rush can be attributed to really good line play. The colts have a good D and were up there amongst the league leaders in sacks until yesterday. They threw everything they had at us a few times, and Ben still had all day to throw.

Also, aside from Denver, the Colts might be the best offense in the game. They were gonna score some points, especially since their defense got scored on so quickly. They had like 7 or 8 drives in the first half alone. Plus our defense was all over Luck, and he hung in there and played awesome. Any other QB in the league folds under that kind of pressure (Brady and Manning included). If we play defense as well as we did yesterday, the rats aren't getting more than 20. Flacco isn't anywhere near Andrew Luck.

A few weeks ago I posted that I thought the Steelers were playing soft because that is what I saw. That is not what I saw yesterday or the week before. The Steelers are back to playing typical hard nose Steeler football. The Steelers need to keep playing that type of football and things should work. They are 5-3 after 2 quarters of the season. That is where you need to be to target the playoffs. If they handle the next 2 quarters at 3-1 and 3-1 their record winds up at 11-5 where I and a lot of others predicted they would be when season started. They would win their division more than likely and anything can happen from that point.

A lot of things can happen to prevent that from happening but from what I see after rooting for them forever the Steelers are ready to have a mini run and get to the playoffs,

Agreed. This depends greatly on whether they can maintain consistency with the aggressive, hard-nosed play we've seen the last couple games.

How did the defense start creating so many turnovers? INTs and fumble recoveries. It's definitely nice to see.

Hold on, didn't the defense give up 34 points, 400 yards passing? I haven't watched it yet, but statistically, they are giving up around 30 per week the past 3 weeks. Not sure I'd agree with a good looking defense quite yet.

Scoreboard doesn't reflect how they were playing, watch it and I think you'll see what I am talking about.

Plus, as I said, its the colts, they score a lot of points on just about everyone.

    Yep.

I was suspecting that some might start to point to Indy being a weakened team or some such like.

Let's be honest - we were pretty much all expecting Luck to have a field day with our defense. Yes, he threw for hundreds of yards and scored 34 points. But he was also harried, pressured, and stopped several times. No doubt if we hadn't had such silly penalties from 23, 28 and (sadly) 43, then the score would be lower.

I'm not saying that we're going to go unbeaten from here or anything like that. But we played a team that looked ideally equipped to murder us on the field, and we beat them soundly.

yes the defense looked good yesterday... How could they not look good with a pick 6 and all of the pressure they put on unLuck

We now have stacked 2 wins, if that continues we have a shot at the playoffs and we know where that can lead. Just hope they continue to stay consistent and take each game as a must win. I been hearing intermittent snores from the giant it may be close to an awakening.

I'd agree with others who point to the secondary as the defense's weak link. The front 7 played admirably. But they can't get to the opposing QB on every play. They can hurry and rush the QB, but good teams with good QBs are going to get their licks in. The secondary has to make some stops. Gay had the pick 6. Allen is simply not playing good ball, right now. At all. It's almost painful to see him get burned so badly. 14 points on Luck targeting him. Even if he would have stopped one of them it would have been bearable.

I agree with the OP, that I have been waiting to see a game like this for at least the last 3 years.

    The talent is there.

    Consistent execution hasn`t been...

Let`s hope that changes from here on out...

I really don`t think 28 points/game+ is expecting too much from this offense...

That`s only a touchdown per quarter...

And a fg, here or there...

    GO STEELERS!!!
