I understand the winds were very high during the game at Cleveland, near 48 mph. Is that an excse for Suisham missing another FG. I swear his inaptitude will hurt us during the playoffs.

The winds ripped on that kick, you could see them pushing the ball, he hit it well -- I fault Ben for taking a sack and ruining the chance for a nearly sure-thing FG. Did you see the coverage of both kickers in the pre-game warm-ups...Balls getting pushed all over the place.

The thing that kills me about Suisham is that he never seems to make the hard ones. Yeah I know this one had a lot of wind, or some this season have been pretty long, etc. But you still have to make some of those now and then.

And then he made the short one, and acted like he lost his best friend. Some emotion from the guy would be nice. I just noticed his practice kicks were doing the same exact thing in warmups but he seemed to kick the same way, anyway. Im no kicking expert by any stretch - just my observation.

It was a tough kick to make. Ben screwed us on that one taking the sack. He's gotta learn to get rid of the ball quick in those situations. We needed the yards he lost.

Ben's sack really screwed him up. He took it on the right hash so he had to english it to get it back to the sticks. a little too much + the wind = miss left. (Badly)

I understand the concern with Suisham. But I think he gets a pass for that miss yesterday. There's a lot of better kickers who would have missed that.

Yes its an excuse for him missing that FG...DUH! That and Ben getting sacked like he did (if he would have stepped the other way he would have been fine).

We have had worse playoff kickers. Roy Gerela was popular in Pittsburgh but I saw him miss many times and he even sliced a couple of kickoffs by falling down.

You really can't compare kickers from the '70s to ones today. In the '70s PK's made about 60-65% of the FGs they attempted, in 2011 that number is over 82%. Gerela could hit 70% of his FGs and not be considered a liability, if Suisham does that he's last in the league.

Suisham doesn't meet the standard. We need someone else next year.

Excuse? Nope... it's a reason. He is an average kicker at best.

Well, according to the stats, he is #32 out of 32. Hardly average.

How does that fit with "...the standard is the standard."? :hmmm:

He was 14/15 on FGs and 19/19 on PATs last year and is 80% on FGs during his career. Maybe not average but certainly not the worst in the NFL.

He doesn't fit with the standard but it isn't like good kickers are growing on trees.

I am not sure about how many he has missed between the 40's.
Missing 50 yarders I can understand.

    I like the guy!

Look him up on Wikipedia, and at least you will get an idea on why we keep him.

.....but I do miss crazy ol' Jeff Reed and his hair!
