scrub castoffs? I think blake can eventually be a good 4thl corner for us and maybe even a gay or deshea role down the line. I'm actually waiting to see what we have in webb. at least he has the 5-11 Hgt. we will be going against a couple of tall ones this week. those extra few inches could help. blake though has the time in the defense. with several parts being fairly new back there we may go with the guys that are more familiar with the defense. just a hunch.

Like it or not, we're stuck with who we have for now. I think we ought to use our top three draft picks on CBs next year. We've neglected the position for too long now!

Claiborne hasn't been playing well but it was very unprofessional for a team owner to call out a player like that in the press. The fact that the media searches out Jerry Jones for stuff like that instead of the head coach says a lot about that organization.

Yeah but Claiborne has a chance of turning his career around he's still young only in his third year. McCain and Blake will never be starters just midget backups :roflmao:

:this!:I hate that crap the media go run to Jerry Jones for a quote, instead of talking to the coach. He has to be the only owner in the NFL with his own radio show. I'm glad we have the Rooney's as owners.

Yeah Jerry Jones is nothing but a moron. I wish someone in the media would say "why should we care what you have to say? you've not built a winner. ever. it was all jimmy johnson." That would be awesome if they'd have the guts to put this attention hound in his place.

So, this is all academic because the Cowboys are going to stick it out with Claiborne for quite some time before even considering a trade. However, he was a really solid player coming out of college - undeniably a top tier corner prospect. So what's changed in Dallas? Is is schematic? Are they playing away from his strengths or confusing him with his assignments? I really don't know. However I do know that he has huge upside, and would be an utter steal for a late round draft pick - even with his $2 million salary burden - provided that the team that picks him up is able to fit him in schematically doing what he did really well at LSU. I'm hesitant to say whether that team is us, because I frankly don't remember his LSU game film, and whether he would fit here.

He's not in Kansas anymore. Or in college.

I'M thinking if Claiborne struggles this week in coverage, and as do our corners, that we might try to trade for him...( just a thought)

What has changed in Dallas is their DC's. They went from the ultra aggressive Rob Ryan defense the year he was drafted to the Monte Kiffen who lasted a year to Rod Marinelli. I don't think you can find three more diverse defensive coordinators if you tried. I would think they drafted him to fit a role in one type of defense and are now asking him to play another and it takes time to break down habits and form new ones.

After looking into it, the money issue is not on our end but on Dallas'. They don't have the cap room to take the dead money hit Claiborn would give them, so I don't think it's a real option right now during the season.

It might be worth keeping an eye on once March rolls around however.

Thanks Del ,that makes sense. I think Claiborn can be a good player . I am sure we will be looking at all options at CB come off season . I just hope we can find a way to win until Ike gets back.

We have had such crappy corners for so long we now think Ike is a star, Ike isnt even a top 20 corner, it's time to cut him loose and draft a couple of corners early in the next draft and start cleaning house in the secondary starting with Ike, we grab every cheap castoff on the waiver wire and this secondary never improves, Tomlin claims to be a DB coach and yet he has the worst DBs in the league, go figure....

I was hoping the entire draft to get Pierre Desir. Grabbing him in the 4th round would give us a future starter and some depth right now.

You might get a bag of cheetos and a peanut butter cup for these two, but that's about all.
