I know some of the old-timer players like Troy and Keisel get a day off from practice to rest their bodies. I wonder what they do. Do they at least study film? You would think they could be required to participate in some sort of activity, even if they weren't physically practicing, but the news always says they had the day off. Is it some CBA thing?

Players are entitled to days off too. It wouldn't be fair for them to have to work 7 days a week during the season. Some players might look at tape, others do family things, and I'm sure others go out partying. They don't all do the same thing

If I was a NFL player working at my job about six months out of the year and getting paid millions a year I know I would do something pertaining to my job on my days off. Looking at film, working out or maybe setting down to study the play book, anything to keep myself up on things knowing how fortunate I am to be in the NFL.

If you're talking about during the week when they practice and some of the guys show up on the "injury" list as non-injured or non football related or something weird like that...usually most of the time to my knowledge they are still at practice (and who knows maybe they do a few drills/etc) and maybe help out/coach some younger guys and such. Its just the staff are giving them a break and no making them go through everything they usually do.

Now if you're talking about how usually on Mondays where there isn't any practice and such and they get more of a true day off to do whatever they want...I'm not sure...

We all know what Bell and Blount do on a game day, I hate to think what they do on an off day.

When the old farts get a day off it is to rest their bodies. They are still at practice and still do the classroom part. They just watch the practice part, but they are there.

If I were a coach, I would advise against this. People need to take a break from work to reboot. Then come back the next day refreshed. All work and no play, and people, players, employees get burned out.
