now that I've had a day to process this madness and have calmed down a bit........... ok, that's a lie!!! my blood is still boiling, but it's time to take a look at things nonetheless:

what happened..... I can point to a lot of things from start to finish.

on ben's fumble, mike Johnson came in untouched... it's ben's job to call his protections and he did not see this coming... this cannot happen and put us in the hole early

the last time shaun suisham missed 2 field goals in a game, we lost.... of course those were the only ones he missed all yr, and we missed the playoffs by one game.... I certainly don't want to see a repeat of that

the refs totally missed a blatant hold on sean spence on doug martin's td... maybe the league should expand instant replay to include game changing penalties

stupid penalties........... this is getting old

what's wrong with cortez allen??? I've seen this guy run step for step with mike Wallace and now he gets outrun by te's????? what's going on here

why do we constantly play down to our competition.... this is a coaching issue

cam Thomas and Jason worilds have been non-existent on the left side of the defense since game 1... cam, sit down and make room for tuitt

when you outgain a team 250 to 64 in a half, you should have a lot more than a 7 pt. lead

there's so much more I can add, and i'm sure a few of you will do just that, but i'm going to end this rant before I get totally disrespectful and hope that the coaches can fix this, because a poor game against Jacksonville simply would be demoralizing

I had a similar thought in one of the other games about allowing replays on penalties during scoring plays, but I'm not sure if it's too much of a slippery slope kind of thing.

And Allen... between him and Gay I almost put a boot through the screen yesterday.

I think Suisham only missed one FG a 50 yarder at the end of the 2nd qt.

their entire secondary is horrible and as sad as i make me to say, that includes Troy.

Mitchell is no where near the player Clark was. Allen has taken a huge step back and Troy is just on the wrong side of his better playing years.

Gay is the best cb they have right now and thats not saying much, but atleast he seems to be giving it his all and making some plays.

im not gonna blame a loss on a missed penalty call. chances are the guys still scores on that play anyways. im more concerned with the total lack of discipline this team has.

Gay is not bad when he blitzes or plays the nickel. When he is asked to defend VJax who is 6'5" ...not going to happen. In fact, when he is asked to play starting CB in general its a big No. Allen....sigh. What is his deal? Is he hurt? He looked horrible yesterday. I mean really horrible.

i cant blame Gay for that last td. sure the guy he was covering caught it, but i dont theres a cb in the league that could of done anything on that play. Jackson made a great catch fully extended back the opposite way he was going. Gay made a great play on the play before that where he broke up the td catch. if the secondary all were as good or bad as Gay i think they would still be a much better secondary. he is not the problem.

Exactly. Nitpicking on Gay for not being able to stop that TD is silly. You know, because maybe that 41-yard completion to set up that TD was more likely the bigger issue. (and not throwing to Heath on 3rd and 5 to ice the game before that...)

all these things and others contributed to the loss. AB not making the long grab. ben overthrowing a few and not securing the ball on the sack. bell missing the free blitzer. Justin brown not making the TD catch. heath and AB dropping catches. gilbert still being pushed back near ben constantly. o=line breakdowns. zero pressure on glennon on the last drive. the offense and ST's putting the D out there with short fields. the D was at fault on just as many little things. it all adds up with everything else that went wrong sunday. there were also a lot of things that went right, but the negatives countered all of that. it's not one player, it's a team wide problem that led to this loss.

I can blame Gay and the Coach. On the first play I think it was pass interference and the WR still almost caught the ball....The OC said hey lets go after Gay again .....Our DC failed putting Gay right back in the same spot...Gay failed by not forcing the big WR to the help...Make the WR run his route inside and make the QB make a harder throw inside where there is more traffic....

Poor play call and poor play execution

Don't overlook that 29 yard punt that gave them a short field and there wasn't any pass rush on that final drive, and that last play with 7 seconds left was a joke, instead of Ben throwing a bomb down the field to give a receiver a chance at a TD they do that stupid fire drill surrender play, as far as the secondary goes we go into every season with the retreads we scrounge up off the waiver wire so expecting those players to break up passes is quite a stretch....

It would have been just as easy if he went inside because Troy was late getting to the play forcing gay to have both responsibilities. As soon as I saw gay out there on an island against Vincent jackson I knew what the result was going to be.

Everybody with me watching were saying that Gay and Allen cannot cover their receivers one one one. So where is the safety help over the top. Troy was in no mans land on the last touchdown, to me he should of been in the end zone waiting for that throw.. We could all see it coming why can't the players and coaches!

Exactly! What was Troy looking for? A run with 7 seconds and no time outs? A short throw to no one else on that side with 7 seconds left and no time outs? What was he expecting with seven seconds left? He should have at least been on the goal line taking the in so Gay could cover the out!

Actually there was a lot that could have been done there. Including the game winning TD catch that was what three or four consecutive targets of Vincent Jackson in the redzone? How could they not think they would be going right back to the same play. Let Troy cover him over the top and Gay underneath and play the ball.

We have no idea whether Troy was doing exactly what he was supposed to do, so blaming him is questionable at best. Everybody seemed to know that they would play jump ball in the corner to either Evans or Jackson... except perhaps for our DC? Maybe Troy was exactly where DL wanted him. We'll never know, but even if Troy was out position on 1st and goal, it was our DC's responsibility to get help to the corner for the second attempt. Yet DL remains teflon in the eyes of many.

I would liek to know what happened to last weeks game plan? No short passing game, no exploiting the gaps in the Tampa Two coverage. Heck I would have thrown to Heath all day because besides the first drop they weren't stopping him. Where was the jumbo set? If your tackles are having issues go to the quick passes that can get the ball out quick. Defense isn't going to win it for you, so don't waste opportunities with gadget plays, there are times for those like being up 27-3 then throw a series with an end around and a flea flicker.

I'm just saying with 7 seconds left and he has the ability to freelance, what he was thinking being where he was post snap. Whether it was a horrible defensive call or what?

Perhaps. We don't know what his responsibility was on those plays. He may have had responsibility for an eligible receiver that stayed in to block, which would mean that he'd have no chance to get outside as quickly as the ball came out. We'll probably never know for sure. I'm not saying that Troy was definitely not at fault. I'm staying that we simply don't know, and he may have been playing his responsibility. My frustration is that we dodged the bullet on 1st and goal, but still left 5'10" Willie Gay locked up with 6'5" VJax. regardless of whose fault it was on 1st down, it's up to our DC to say "whoahh" between downs and fix that. We knew it was coming again.

Yeah, I think he's pretty great

Tampa had like what, 8 cracks at the endzone between their last 2 possessions, unfortunately the last one scored.

That is the way I see it - with the rules favoring offense so much you cannot give a team 8 cracks at the end zone in the final few minutes and expect them not to get in.
