There is a reason bad QBs look good against us....

....and, as I have been saying forever and will continue to say until the team fixes this issue, is that we produce absolutely zero pressure on opposing QBs. Every QB, not matter who they are, will carve up ANY secondary if they do not have to worry about being pressured or being hit.

There were several times today where we rushed 6 or 7 players, and none of them even got to the QB. It wasn't like Glennon was releasing the ball super fast today. He simply had all day to throw.

And this has been the issue since the Steelers have started to suck on defense. No pressure. Pressure = mistakes and turnovers by opposing QBs, and oh yea....WE RARELY GET TURNOVERS!

For everyone calling for Tomlin or Labeau to be fired, how about calling for the defensive line coach to be fired? That might actually yield positive results, because clearly we are not getting the most out of our defensive line talent.

    Not gonna happen.

    Why?

    "Because he's John Mitchell?"

we sent 3 or 4 guys against 5 or 6 when we sent more we got some pressure but every WR was wide open. Not going to get pressure until you can get numbers up front,,,,in a perfect world send 1 more than they can block we don't have the skill to do it..

We drop 8 in coverage and not just 1 WR gets open all 3 or 4 of them get open that's why a Rookie can pick us apart ....

Hell, even when they're COVERED they get the catch because not one of our DBs will make a play on the ball.

I always wondered why it takes Johnny Mitchell so long to trained our Defensive linemen. I've heard he strips them down and builds them back up. Well, we don't have that much time anymore because of the rookie contracts.

McCleandon and Heyward here recently have been our best DL. But it's taken Heyward at least 3 years and McCleadon about the same to become decent.

LOL!!! If I was playing we might have won. I actually LOVE the Steelers! Which I think is more than I can say for some of these guys just looking for a paycheck. Also I'm 5'4 "and a half" according to my wife who is taller than me. LOL.

The issue on defense is as much scheme as it is talent. Remember, Kevin Greene said it's the same thing LeBeau has always been doing. This issue of lack of pressure has actually been around for several seasons. No matter who the Steelers send, the blitz gets picked up pretty easily. The rest of the NFL has this zone blitz thing pretty well figured out.

It's only been used for 20 years. You mean other teams can adjust to it after 20 years?!?! ;)

Until you have pressure on a( qb that can throw
accuratley) you will continue to have pitch and catch.Does not matter if he is a journeyman or not. Have said this for years. To no avail. Our defense is unrecognizable. Thank you, too all who have contributed to this.

This is why I say DL needs to go, no matter what personnel you have he never can change the scheme. It is sick watching that same old cross fire blitz as it gets picked up and the QB completes a pass down the middle for 18 yards. The line is bad, they don't push the pocket or get any presentataion, the QB has room to step up and make a throw, this is bad. The team looked good against the panthers with a makeshift oline but truth is, any line that is average is going to contain our pass rush and look out if this team faces a good QB, it will be ugly fast. The only hope is Haley decides to abandon the run and go no huddle and just keep lighting the score board up and then pray the defense can get one stop but it seems if we get any kind of lead we quit, I'm disgusted.

And the type of D they play...Don't give up the over the top throw...tackle the catch...unfortunately they haven't done those two things well...oh and no pressure on the QB idc if your mel blount...if your not getting pressure on the Qb then your pass D will suffer
