2nd half Defensive performance

After allowing catch after catch after catch, I kept asking myself why is William Gay still in the NFL? Our secondary just made Mike Glennon, a backup, look like a top 10 quarterback. The playcalling on D was way way way too soft and in turn it allowed this joke of a team to just embarrass us. Wow!

 

I may get bashed but D LeBeaus blitzs no longer work, this team can't get pressure unless playing a team with rookie linemen. Please tell Mr. LeBeau to retire.

 

I am honestly in shock right now. That was the worst excuse for an NFL TEAM I have ever saw and they just made us look like straight up trash.

 

We get what we pay for with gay. It's Cortez Allen the big money man that aggravates me more. The dude was out there pussy footing all day long.

 

Rambro, they both sucked today. William Gay looked like he didn't belong on a football field anymore.

 

WE HAVE NO DEFENSIVE LINE! You cannot play great defense with the ****ty defensive line that we have. No pressure = no mistakes/turnovers by the opposing team. It is as simple as that. We simply CANNOT pressure QBs. That has been the case for the ENTIRETY of which we have seen a decline in our defense.

 

Without a doubt we have the worst corners in the league! Time and time again, Allen and Gay were smoked by TB's qb and receivers! I am absolutely sick to my stomach after what we just witnessed!

 

No CB can defend WRs when their QBs know that they will not have to worry about pressure because the defensive front sucks...

 

YAY for them for still doing those awesome 10 yard cushions!! Those I think were a huge key factor on quite a few of the big plays today.

 

Been watching this team for 60 yrs. and I have about had enough of this kind of football.

 

Aye. They were mixing it up more last week. Today we had both Gay and Allen taking their usual positions 3 yards behind the guy catching the ball.

 

Every time I see Gay get beat I just imagine how many corners we could have picked instead of Shazier at that spot.

 

The Bucs identified their pigeon early, and kept plucking him all game long.

 

Fuller (who was picked before the Steelers spot) looked terrible today against Green Bay.
Gilbert and most of the other rookie top picks have been just as bad this season.

So yes, there are plenty of corners the Steelers could have picked instead of Shazier, who could've chosen today to have a bad performance.

 

This is spot on!!! Why is Cam Thomas even playing??? I heard people getting mad at bringing Keisel back but even at 36 he is ten times better than that lard a$$ Cam Thomas, who's idea was it to get him? McCullers may be raw but he could not be any worse than Thomas.

When a 36 yr old defensive lineman is your best on the team, you have problems.

 

The secondary is garbage Louis Murphy was just signed off the street for Tampa Bay last week, and he had 6 rec for 99 yards. They should've had double coverage on Vincent Jackson on that last TD.

 

You know we hear this argument a lot when the LeBeau debates heat up. But if he's the legendary defensive coordinator that he has the reputation of being, shouldn't he be able to take the cast of characters that he has and have success with them? If it's the players then shouldn't we be saying that the success DL has had is because he's been the beneficiary of having some tremendous players at his disposal? Not expressing an opinion necessarily because I do believe DL's zone blitz scheme was revolutionary in its day, but it's now run its course. The problem is that DL keeps running with it.

The defense gave up over 150 yards on 5 plays alone!!! It makes my head want to explode when they give up 15 or more yards ON THIRD DOWN! Good grief when will it end????????//

 

I agree with you. However the Bucs receivers are still well over 6' and our DBs are still.......5'10" at best? Aren't there any corners or safeties over 6' anywhere?
