    2 questions:

Haven't the Ravens really seen that video before?
What do that video showed the Ravens that they didn't knew a couple of weeks ago?

It shows that they can't back up rice's alleged story that she came after him and he defended himself. You can't tell me that when Rice's wife apologizing for her role in this altercation and her provoking him that someone in the ravens PR department didn't ask her to do that. We all knew what happened in that elevator, but without the video the ravens were able to back rice's story.. Now whether the organization or the nfl saw the video or not, there's no way they can say that she had provoked him. They had no choice but to release him at this point. There would have been protests, backlashes from fans, etc.. and all rightfully so.

Guck Fudell has to be shown the way by the Rats.
I do NOT believe the league did not see that video before either. I think they saw it when it all went down.
Reminds me of the cheatriots. Fodell said
OH there was only ONE tape so I destroyed it.

Wow. I didn't see that coming.

Good to see the right thing happening, but part of me wonders what the discussions were like between the people who make those decisions.

Better late than never, but it does make me wonder if the Ravens are just saving face

Goodell or someone else in the NFL office saw that video prior to today. I am disgusted that he got a two game slap on the wrist for that. I applaud the Ravens for doing the right thing and I really hope this costs someone their job in the NFL office.

It may be too little too late for this offence but the good news is they have changed the suspensions for the future to 6 games for first offence and lifetime ban for subsequent infractions but of course there are mitigating factors that could influence decisions on punishment

Can I ask something? I can understand the Ravens releasing him - a good move on their part and it took some guts to do that. But this is the same event, right - i.e. not another event? So this is part of the one time happening where he did this (or at least was caught doing this). Why is he being suspended indefinitely? I thought the policy of the NFL was 6 games for assault/domestic violence and then if it happens again, a lifetime ban.

Also - we knew she was knocked out, how did people think it happened? Of course he clocked her. I guess the act being seen on video just ratchets up the tension on having to do something.

I'm still most upset the local District Attorney didn't prosecute Ray Rice to the fullest.

The guy should have spent some time in jail. That's the appropriate penalty for a crime like this.

What happens to his job and employment and public opinion is kind of secondary to the fact the criminal justice system just sucks so bad something like this, with expensive lawyers, can get you off with community service and a fine.

Whatever happened to justice and the punishment fitting the crime? Where has that gone?

To a great extent the reason it wasn't prosecuted is because his wife chose not to press charges. If she would have taken that route with the video evidence it is possible he would have served some jail time.

I'm assuming all parties saw this video beforehand. It seems all that went down today is just due to Social Media outrage.

...when I first heard this happened months ago I figured it would be a 6-8 game suspension.

People are crying for a lifetime ban. I don't know. I feel if he truly has repented, and seeks help, then he deserves a second chance. You can punish people forever, but what does it get you? People makes mistakes.

I believe there is something in the structuring of the policy that if it's repeated strikes, the penalty can be upped. He struck her twice.

I'm sure he will get a second chance but it shouldn't come until next season.

What does this have to do with Pouncey exactly? The league's new discipline policy is regarding domestic violence and sexual assault, right? Having said that, if he did punch a woman, he deserves whatever he gets. Also, is there something new? That was from July.

There's video of Pac Man slugging a woman and he (Gooddell) did nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Because it was determined that she threw her beer bottle at him first. I never understood that. She didn't slug him over the head with it and she didn't go all Beyonces sister crazy on him AND he's a repeat problem child. IMO that case was a travesty but no one ever talks about it.
