...the team won't start McCullers, and there is even question if he will make the team. I admit that I don't know the intricacies of a nose tackle, but when he can consistently dominate offensive linemen and require 2-3 blockers, isn't that in itself extremely useful for the defense? I am very confused about this. Enlighten me team thesteelersfans.

Apparently, his technique isn't consistent and he doesn't have the experience. Seems they think he gets taken out of the play too easy sometimes and misses a couple tackles.

You may be on to something here though....isn't that what we're getting anyway?

Because he doesn't consistently dominate offensive linemen or require 2-3 blockers. He's raw as cookie dough.

I don't think hes getting cut. The coaches say he's immovable, they'd have to feel that the rest of his game is hopeless and if reports are to be believed, he's already impressed them doing more then they thought he could do. So, doesn't seem likely to me.

I doubt he starts at the beginning of the year, but if he improves and McClendon struggles to play at the level expected, it wouldn't surprise me if he gets some starts later.

I forget which rb from Philly he tackled, late in the game, but another defender slowed him up, and McCullers, just PLOWED him into the ground from behind...
Not TOO far from the LOS, but he did chase him at least 3 yards downfield, and probably 10 yards from his NT position...
I Didn`t even have to look at his number, `cause he was twice the size of the back, he buried.
    I knew it was him.
And, yeah, he`s raw. I don`t want him to start, yet..
    but...
    He has potential.
And he definiteley has value in "situational football"...
I wouldn`t even mind seeing them use him like "The Fridge", from the old Bears teams...
No way we should just get rid of a body that size, that has potential to actually learn the fundamentals, and some of the techniques.
I doubt he will ever "get lower" than his opponent on the line, but he is still very new to the game, and he CAN learn a lot about footwork, and "hand fighting"...
The man commands 2 blockers at the line, and that`s pretty much all Casey did his last couple years, unless the other team pissed him off!
McClendon is the man, for now, but McCullers can learn, and seems like he wants to.
    Keep Him!!!
    GO STEELERS!

I was impressed with his hustle there, I think he has a lot of potential. He also missed some easy tackles, he has quite a bit of work to do.
