Boy aint that the truth.....although I thought Ziggy got a worse reputation than what he deserved from some. I never thought he lived up to his draft status or expectations but I also that he wasn't quite as bad as others made him out to be. But i do remember some if his workout videos and thinking "this will be his year".

Hood wasn't nearly as bad as people think, he just never reached elite status for where he was drafted.

Well like you said, it's not his primary job and still had 3 sacks and 3 QB hurries. To put it in perspective, Aaron Smith had a couple seasons with only 2 sacks and another with 4.5 sacks. He's a HOF player, Hood can't carry his Jock and still had seasons with low sack totals. Their DE just don't get a lot of sacks. I think you'll start to see that change as DL adjust his defensive schemes.

That's the thingI have always said when this topic comes up. People go in a 3-4 the DE aren't responsible for getting to the QB not like in a 4-3 except when your rush four in what ever combo you like then yeah your job isn't to eat up blocks and allow the LB's to get free anymore it is to pressure the QB. ZIggy came out of college with a rep for being a sack expert, or sack machine whatever you want to call it. Perhaps in a 4-3 he could be that in the pro's but he was drafted by a team that run's a 3-4 and yet the rep stuck around. The guy was strong and had a heck of a bull rush but couldn't shove the lineman aside and get the QB. All the upper body work and he couldn't throw a swim move or twist in there to beat the block. He was solid player for the time he was here but could never shake that college rep and that is what people remember.

I saw some flashes from Tuitt. I could see him getting a few sacks this season.

He wasn't supposed to get a ton of sacks but he was supposed to collapse the pocket and get penetration and also stop the run by either making the tackle or eating blocks for the LB to make the play and he did neither. He was serviceable as a breather but that is it, he had all this strength but never commanded a double team and every big running play was always to his side. I'm glad they left Ziggy walk, it killed me knowing he was a first round pick that had one good game against a team with just as bad of an oline as us, and that was the Eagles.

    :this!:

Hood's biggest problem was shedding blocks, he was pretty serviceable, just not what you'd expect out of a first rd pick.

Yes and I am also hoping the personnel change on the line will make things better. I think Tuitt will be an upgrade to Hood and maybe Thomas will be an upgrade to Mclendon.
