These are not expectations for when Ben is at QB then? or are they just not a priority because they would hamper the gunslinger in him?

I'm not a Bruce Arians hater but Number 2 of your post had me laughing.........wait for it............................................a F**k*** sack!!!!
    :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
(on a serious note, half of the sacks are Ben's fault for holding the ball to long)

Slicker, I think you and a very few others are big Bruce Arians supporters. You have a right to your opinion, but you are not the majority. The majority wants Bruce Arians gone. We realize that all his short comings have hurt this team. Look at his resume and you see how he has almost desteroyed the Steelers offense. He changed the blocking scheme, he got rid of all the legit full backs, started using TE's as fullbacks and blockers. (ATTENTION, Former Steeler John Kuhn of the Packers makes the Pro-Bowl this Year)

12to88 pt it down for you. He listed 10 reasons why BA should be gone. Did you read it? BigPlayWilly Gay talked about clock management, 4evrHO'donnel talked about gone are the days of a run oriented Steelers foootball offense since he has come in, run to pass ratio.

There are so many more reasons why this man should be gone. Example; against Cleveland with running Mendenhall 4 straight times up the middle, what gives? As far as his Super Bowl record is concerned, the Steelers won the first one in spite of BA, and he lost against Greeb Bay with that stupid game plan he showed up with.

He does not need to be fired because his contract is up after the season, just don't bring him back. However, after what Mr. Rooney told Tomlin before last season, how he wanted the Steelers to work on running the ball, he should be fired because he went back to his old ways and disregarded what Mr. Rooneys wishes were. His time is up and he should be ot of here next year.

As far as Norv Turner goes, BA couldn't carry his jock strap, and most of Steeler Nation would love to have him as the new OC, but please don't let the Ravens get him.

I try not to get involved in these conversations. Especially now that we are in the middle of another superbowl run. But I just had a thought, maybe a little bit of Irony as well. Instead of Norv Turner, how about Kurt Warner? He could definitely help Ben out with watching film.

:bs: :bs: :bs: DiehardSteel , I don’t like to talk about stats because they are VERY misleading unless we are talking about the win and loss column but we are 11th overall in offense which means we are better than 21 teams and 10 teams are better than us and blah, blah, blah. Take away some of the picks by number 7 and a few fumbles there is no telling where we would be but again, STATS are very misleading. Playoff wins and Super Bowl appearances are NOT. :superman:
Exactly. I wasn't talking about scoring stats - and if that's the stat you're after, then if anything, you keep BA for his "bombs away" approach and try and turn Ben into Brees. BA's record in terms of wins, play-offs etc. is not bad enough to warrant being fired, for better or for worse.
Of course you're not talking about scoring stats, but the last time I checked, it's scoring that decides games and wins titles. Yardage stats are useless unless you're able to score after racking up the yards. Next time you see any team win a game, say 400 yards to 300 yards, let me know. This offense of BA's is getting outscored by 19 other teams, that's the only number that should matter when it comes to whether any OC is doing his job, imo. :hello:

A few small tweaks could change the whole outlook...

    1) Stop the empty backfield, shotgun formations on 3rd and short.

    2) Go to 35%/65% or (hopefully) 40%/60% run/pass

    3) Caveat to #2: 70%/30% run/pass in the red zone and between Steelers end zone and Steelers 20yd line

    4) When Ben has to scramble on a pass play, and there isn't a clear open receiver, then 50% gunsling, 50% checkdown to Mendy/Red when checkdown is available

    Why I make these suggestions:

#1 - Leaves PA open which is killer on 3rd and short; RBs can manage 3rd and short; Defense won't know what's coming

#2 - Keep the defense guessing

#3 - Keeps the team in position for a field goal and provides better ball protection

#4 - Ball protection; keeps RBs involved; keeps defense guessing; Let's Ben be Ben (gunsling) while still making smart plays (checkdown)

I think these small adjustments can keep everyone happy. Then, the BA conversation can continue in the off-season. Although, I'm sure everyone knows he's not going anywhere until he's ready. Lol!

That could be interesting. Isn't Warner pretty happy doing the broadcasting, though? I think I would prefer someone with more o-line experience, though - designing gameplans that fit the line personnel, first and foremost.

I don't see Norv Turner coming here, either. Who else would be in the market?

Did it ever occur to some of you who are knocking BA that he has a boss that tells him what he wants him to do and like all of you who have a job you have a boss to answer to, unless you own the company. Well that is what BA is up against. So this year is almost over and we will see what happens in the off season and who knows maybe we will see BA on the sidelines again next season and you know what. We will have to live with it because none of us are paying him and the Rooney's must like him along with Tomlin and a few other figures in the Steeler world.

Pretty typical of some fans to only focus on the negatives. Some how, they manage to over look the positives. This reminds me of the people that state that Tomlin has poor clock management skills. Again, they over looked or did not see the situations when the clock was manage properly.

The good news is the organization can care less what the fans think. Most of the people on message boards would run this franchise into the ground with overly emotional responses and irrational thinking.

Easy there slickster..I am just trying to figure out why we can't have a higher scoring offense like the saints, the pats, and GB. We have the players, but we can be much better

That! That alone would vault our offense into the top-10 of scoring offenses. No question. That one simple tweak could restore the balance (or threat of balance) that our offense desperately needs.

I am one of those people who thinks Tomlin and company are poor clock managers. I believe this because on a regular basis this team: wastes timeouts, fails to successively score points with less than 2 minutes left, and selects plays poorly to do so. Football isn't some mystic science where only the gurus of NFL front offices and coaching staffs can properly decipher plays and know how to manage time. In fact it has been talked about around the league in years that head coaches consult with math majors and analysts to help them manage time better. I'm pretty sure Bill Parcels hired a guy to manage time in a game for him. Timeouts are one of the most important tools to have during the course of the game. I'm not going to get into it further, I just wanted to point out that you think I overlook the positives but that isn't true. I am happy this team consistently competes and has drafted / developed some of the best talent in the league. What we fans are pointing out is how we have very good players but yet have made full use of them on the field, which is a coaching issue.

If you tell me you wouldn't want to see our team be as dominant as the 70s Steelers, 2000 Patriots and even this year Green Bay Packers then you are crazy. Our team certainly has had the potential the last 5 years.

And therein lies the problem, BA won't make these small tweaks that EVERYONE but him sees.

Here's the problem with this though, does any of us really believe that the most successful football organization in the NFL from the coaches all the way up to the Rooneys are oblivious to all this? I admit it, from a fans stand point, these suggestions above sound good but I just don't accept that monday morning QB's on a message board know more then the entire Steelers organization. I'm at a loss as much as any of you over the use of empty sets, a bubble screen that seems to fail repeatedly, not employing the use of a true FB, ect ect. So, either the things us fans want to see wouldn't make a bit of difference or maybe the fact they we are on the verge of a 12 - 4 season, coming off a SB season and in the hunt for another SB appearance has something to do with why they don't feel changes need to be implemented into the game planning .

I think you give Tomlin too much credit. He seems to be lost as a fart in a whirlwind and he is deferring everything O to the BA. MT seems to be in over his head and too proud to change things because he hired the guy.

Are we still in the hunt for the Super Bowl? Do we still have a chance for home field advantage and still a shot at the number one seed? Wait a minute......did we once again make it to the SuperBowl last year? :hmmm: What else does Mike and Bruce need to do besides keep winning? :banghead: :banghead:

Yes. Yes. Yes. And, yes. This team could be in the exact same place with a group of High School coaches on O. The only coaching that has been going on over the past 3 seasons is on D. BA doesn't get much credit for the wins IMO. This team wins in spite of BA.

I'm not really sure we would want Norv just for the same reason we don't want BA. Look at how the Chargers have been in the last couple of years. They are ALL pass ALL the time. I would rather have Cam Cameron. He made Flacco look good for crying out loud. I want BA gone BAD. But also another thing to think about is who's gonna take our defense when Lebeau is gone? If Mike Tomlin is so hooked on BA the only person I could see him bringing to replace him is someone like Mike Martz which is like BA on crack, pcp, red bull, and mountain dew! But atleast he can create a pretty good screen play. Just ask Matt Forte.
