When I look at our LBers one thing comes to mond. "one of these things Is not like the other. One of these things just doesn't belong." The coaches want this quick and fast defense and Williams is thr opposite of that. Now that also could help him tremendously as a goal line lber. I'm not saying he will be so dont jump all over me I'm just asking could he be.

He's lost his starting job, no doubt about that but there is still a place for him coming off the bench. I don't see anyone else on the roster who is better or that much more athletic to warrant taking his spot. He should be able to take a big step forward with a year under his belt, that alone will help him play faster.

Williams will be there and will be part of the rotation..... the inside lbers will be as follows:
    Timmons/shazier
    spence/Williams
with the last spot going to either Wilson or zumalt

Wilson doesnt have a chance they sent him down last year due to Garvin who fits in perfectly with whqt they want on defense.

I think Williams is safe barring something out of the ordinary happening. Odds are much stronger that Zumwalt will go to the PS. I'm not saying Spence will be cut, but it's probably a stronger possibility than most people think. Obviously I'm rooting hard for the kid.

I think Williams will be the top backup ILB, they still don't know what they have in Spence.

As a starter, yes. As a valuable backup who will see significant playing time, NO.

it all depends on how they can perform in the sub packages, I'd say. since they will be moving LT and have him playing more near the line, Williams may be a decent backup to him. zumwalt would seem like more of a backup to shazier as would garvin, spence and wilson.

moats also puts me in the mind of more of the style of LT, Williams and molls when playing the inside spot. more thumper types. then the question becomes who blitzes and covers the best after LT.

IMO, Williams has to prove he can be a solid on special teams. He did enough last year to earn that spot, so I don't see why he couldn't this year.

he didn't play in those sub packages much, if at all. he will have to improve in coverage to play in those packages or at least his blitzing. it all depends on how many we want to keep. I seriously think zumwalt has more upside. they want speed on the field. if Williams doesn't add that other dimension to his game he'll have a hard time. spence in the mix could add another hurdle also. if he's up to the task. if not Williams has a much better chance.

In a 3-4 you need your depth of Linebackers, they are also important to special teams. Williams will get his chances to see the field.
