Should the Steelers look into signing him they seem to like those 5'9 midget CB's.

Someone will snatch him up, but yeah, give his agent a call.

If he would come at the right price it could he a good pick up. Flowers, Allen, Ike, and Gay would make for a good group of corners as well.

I was hopping around boards and one of the topics was Brandon Flowers Released. I started to laugh. The 1st thing that popped into my head was a thread title a couple years ago Cedric Benson Released.

What was funny was this was TC roster cutdown time and it wasn't even the final cut. My eyes widened and I'm thinking get on the phone quick. At the time he was having his best year and Pit needed a RB to boot.

Anyway as soon as I opened the thread [and I should have known it] it read --From Jail-- Then it went on to explain that he had gotten into a minor scrape and was held over. But what was funny was this was at a time when the Bengals were really loaded with players in trouble of some kind or other and players from all teams were being let go in the news. So it was timely.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Steelers are also "monitoring" free agent CB Brandon Flowers "closely."
Flowers is a hot commodity. He'll spend the next two days in San Diego visiting the Chargers, but is also on the Patriots', Ravens', Falcons', and Vikings' radars. In Pittsburgh, Cortez Allen is the top corner with Ike Taylor currently penciled in on the opposite side. Taylor showed his age and was torched last season. Flowers would be a significant upgrade. I'd wager quite a bit that he is not scheduled for a visit. Monitoring probably just means the reporter heard the Steelers could be an interested team.

    -Edit

La Canfora (the one who tweeted the Steelers interest) went on to say that he has no other visits scheduled.

I read an article that promotes the idea that the Steelers are in position to make a run at one of the FA's during this second wave of free agency. With 6 million (I think) in cap space and all draft picks signed, the author thinks they will bring in one more FA.

Flowers is a guy who would definitely improve us and our depth. Do I see it as likely? No. That being said, if his number doesn't come in for what he thinks and he reconsiders us....I take a shot in a heartbeat.

I was listening to Pat Kirwan the other day, and his take was that Flowers was not simply a cap casualty, but that his game has dropped off substantially and the Chiefs moved on more because of performance than dollars. He also indicated that he thought that the rest of the league would understand that when looking at Flowers. Just now I found this article by Kirwan from a couple of days ago. Some interesting coaches' takes in here:

I think Flowers got benched last season, then he played the slot corner I don't see him getting a big contract from another team.

Doesnt have a visit planned and wont visit are two different things. Not having one planNed could mean the Steelers haven't called him yet.

He's Ike, not an immediate upgrade but because of Taylor's age it would be a slight upgrade long term. We CAN afford him but is he worth it? I think not.
