there may be 4 head coaches here but remember they all have different styles and now have to fit those styles as one with some other newer coaches, not to mention a lot of new players. this doesn't happen overnight.

new o-line coach, new RB coach, wr coach is going into year 3, ST's coach is going into year 3, year 3 for the assistant o-line coach with his 3rd boss, 3rd year OC.

if we can hold it together out of the gate or at worst finish the first half of the season 4-4, I think we could again finish stronger at say 6-2, that gets us to 10-6 on the year, two games better than the last two years. peaking down the stretch would be nice, but also uncharted territory for most of our players. I have high expectations, but if all remains the same, I think we could be a year away from being really good enough to make a legit run in the playoffs.

I don't think getting rid of the HC at this point is a good idea. this is really his first glimps of his own building of a team, that he's done, coaching and player wise. I think we have a great coaching staff right now. one of the best and most veteran we have ever seen under MT. I'm still leery of todd, but so far he's been flexible it seems. anyway, lots of moving parts to mesh in a short time.

I think so too, considering the Chin had 3 consecutive seasons that were worse and still kept his job, I'm inclined to believe Tomlin would too.

well the vegas line has us winning 8 1/2 so 8-8 or 9-7 is that they are figuring .. sounds about right to me ... AT LEAST THEY GOT UP GOING UP A HALF GAME NOT DOWN .. at least they have us headed in the right direction..

9-7, 10-6, 12-4... it's all relative to the rest of the conference. This is why mac is right to say you have to look for improvements, rather than record alone.

By the way, did anyone else feel that strange earth tremor when Blast and Hines agreed on something?

I disagree the Steelers could go 10-6 and still miss the playoffs, and you think the coach should be fired. The Rooney's will see the team is headed in the right direction and won't overreact.

I have a feeling you might see a different Mike Tomlin than in years past. In my opinion backed by nothing more than a gut feeling I think Art might have suggested that some of the Tony Dungy type philosophy things that are core to Tomlin's style, the mentor not leader role he takes, his zen like take on how the team is put together and so on, might be put on the back burner and a more traditional Steeler approach to games more prominent. More of a punishing defense, a punishing run game, and so on. Could just be me but then again I could be fooled by the press.

I think it comes down to HOW the team plays the games, moreso, than the overall record.
And, of course, in the NFL, injuries are part of the equation.
If he loses Ben, and/or other key players, and we lose 8 games or more, the Rooneys probably will be more forgiving.
If he has his full compliment of players, and they play hard, but we lose a few close ones, (regardless of record, or playoffs), he`s probably safe.
If this team comes out flat, AGAIN, and gives away games they should win, at least on paper, and just generally doesn`t play like they are trying their hardest...
The Rooneys` patience may wear thin, quicker than it has in the past.
I don`t really expect that to happen, given how he kept the team together, last year, but we HAVE had a tendency to come out, "uninspired", for lack of a better word, against opponents, we "expected" to beat...
If those kind of lackluster performances, against percieved "weaker" teams, continue...
Along with not giving our all, in "big" games, that we KNOW a win, puts us in the driver`s seat for the playoff race...
    IF those trends continue....
Then I don`t think Tomlin`s job is as secure as Cowher, and Noll`s, were...
Just sayin... It`s a new generation, and I don`t think the "younger" Rooney`s are just gonna have "blind faith", and stick by a coach, just because their elders did.
Honestly, I think it`s a moot point, because I expect this team to come out hungry, and, on fire, and kick some ass!!!
But, if they don`t, I don` think Tomlin gets the same leeway as our previous coaches...
Maybe he does, I could be wrong, But I think it will come down more to what effort the Rooneys see on the field...
I don`t think they will tolerate a team they think is "lazy", or "entitled" brats playin` the game for money...
They are gonna wanna see blood and guts and effort on the field, and if they don`t, I wouldn`t blame them for being tired of it!!!
    GO STEELERS!!!:herewego!::steelflag::beard::drinks:

I think it is interesting that the Penguins ownership wanted to see a return of some gritty character guys to their locker room. Guys who are going to stand up and say this is BULL@#%! and get the team fired up. It seems to be a trend that is happening in the Pittsburgh right now. I like it, bring on the nasty

    Well, true.

Fun fact: the last time we agreed on something was the 14th May 2014 - back in a thread about early predictions on the season.

And how did some residents of Japan react on that day? http://www.tamagawa-school.com/news/50

Has to be more than just a coincidence...

(I don't keep a tracker or anything, btw - for some reason I was looking at that thread the other day)
