it got better as our two TE's got healthier. bell also missed the first 4 games. we ran the ball with spaeth back at a 4.08 yard per carry clip. there will be a big difference with heath and spaeth on the field this year.

Bell definitely got better as the season progressed. I didn't make the connection with Spaeth - thanks! If they can start averaging around 4 yards per carry instead of 3.5, they are going to be hard to beat.

If I did my math correctly, we averaged 2.45 in the first 2 games and 3.2 in the first 4. Takes a while to dig your average out of that hole.

I just don't think we should be taking Snaps from LevBell unless he needs a breather.

I don't think we will take snaps away from him, but it's also a long season and you don't want to beat him up so bad that he's not there for you down the stretch either. in year two, he's still not played 16+ games yet.

I think most of the snaps dwyer and jones got last year will go to blount. the snaps redman and LSH got will go to archer. at least in a similar fashion as that.

I see Blount being a short yardage and goal line back.

Outside zone. The Steelers have complemented power with inside zone for years. I think most people think that a team runs one run blocking scheme, and that they're either a man (power) or zone team (or maybe gap I guess, but that's not one I hear used very much), but most teams incorporate a blend of both man and zone depending on the defensive front and play.

The line has been a hodge podge mess for years. Trying to incorporate some outside zone last year didn't do much to effect their play as a whole (let's not talk about the loss of Pouncey), but coaching and more importantly, roster development have been bigger issues.

I asked the question awhile back,
what is #7 winning percentage when he throws
the ball less than 40 times a game? There is
your answer. If Bell doesn't touch the rock
25 times a game, somebody should have
    their head examined.

totally agree this team and coaching staff doesnt have the killer instinct.. against bad teams we play just hard enough ot "win" then in the last few minutes we often lose that game on a last minute or OT FG (aka the raiders games last few years) .. we play up and down to our competition... and when cowher was out coach remember his unbelievable recoard of winning like 99 out of 100 or somethign craxy like that.. games he was leading at the beginning of the fourth qt he won liek 99 out of 100 or something.. those days seem gone

O-line made a difference back then too. if you can't run the ball to finish games, you are setting the other teams up to win. hopefully this begins to change with the seasoning of the line.

The biggest reason for that was the Bus and a better line but my point is we could grind out long clock draining drives in the 4th QTR but if you remember the games were still close. Now the games are still close but no one to kill the clock and so we end up losing a lot of those close games. Hopefully Bell/Blount can change that.

We've seen this movie before guys. It's kind of the reason Bruice isn't here anymore
I am glad to see him doing good though
