I think he played well. there were some growing pains still, since it really is his rookie year. having 4 centers during the year may have been a good thing for his game. it probably made him think a lot more with the change and learning to deal with different players around him, but having gilbert on one side all year was a battle at times too. I think it can only make him a better lineman down the road because he'll have to get used to pouncey again and who knows maybe a new right tackle. he will be fine as he goes though and I think we still have a good one in him.

I think there's a real chance he makes the Pro Bowl this year. He's a stud. Adam Schein is a boob.

I think you could make the argument that down the stretch he was playing like a top 5 guard.

I think I don`t pay enough attention to the linemen while I am watching the games!
Unless they do something REALLY great, or REALLY bad, on either side of the L.O.S...
    Just a fact...
    Not proud of it.
I know we need `em, and we need `em to do well, it`s just hard to focus on them, when the camera follows the ball that`s thrown down the field 80% of the time, nowadays.
Unfortunately, the only image that`s stuck in my head of DeCastro, last season, was him chopping Pouncey from behind!!!
I know that`s not fair, and I`m sure he opened holes for Bell, and protected Ben, very well all season long,
But, what stuck in my head, was him taking out our center, better than the other team could!...
I`m sure he feels worse about it than anyone else in the world, but it was such a horrible play, I can`t even understand how he could make that mistake!
To be honest, it`s hard to judge line play on tv, even IF I knew what I was looking for...
Unless it`s a running play, where you can see a lineman or two, opening a hole, or a center pulling, to take out an unsuspecting defender...
Or, whiffing on a block, and letting their RB/QB get killed...
    Commiting a penalty... Damn Holding/ Offsides!...
Same goes for the D-line...I never actually noticed Casey eating up double teams, so his teammates could get to the ball,
Or the attention teams had to pay to Aaron Smith, so others could come free...
Unless they Bumrush to the Qb, and get a sack, or stuff the RB behind the line, or miss their containment(ends)...
Miss a tackle, draw a facemask...
Linemen on both sides of the ball are the unsung heroes of the league.
Even casual fans like myself, know we need good ones to succeed as a team, but when they are doing their job right, most of us never notice them!
Save for exceptional plays, good or bad...
And a VERY few players, that are mostly gone since the days of Mean Joe... LOL...
    GO STEELERS...
And, oh yeah, I`m glad we got DeCastro. I`m sure he will continue to be silently productive.
Towel pointed out his #5 rating among RG`s, among other stats as reasons Scheiner was full of :bscow:!
    That`s my thoughts!

:this!: I think he'll have a legitimate shot at making the PB as well.

I wonder if Pouncey kept splashing water in his face at Ben's house?

probably kept dunking him under the water too for "takin him out " last season.

how much water was left in the pool after they got out?

DD I hope is a longtime Steeler, sumthin tells me he won't want to break the bank on his contract negotiation too.

This is the mentality you can expect from one that spends too much time blowing (one team) the Jets horn and hanging with Phil Simms. Agree with Steve it's apparent Schein doesn't study film closely. DD will clear the air that Adam is polluting this season... as for the PB the door is wide open! git-r-done!

I don't pay that close attention to the O-line, unless they make a mistake or become a turnstile like Adams was at LT especially that game against the Vikings.

well I do watch the o-line. DD had some less than stellar moments too, let's not quite anoint him pro bowl status yet.

there is improvement to be made, but the smarts and work ethic is there from him. I'm not blaming him for some of the short comings until we 1.get good coaching- which we have and 2. get some cohesion on either side of him. then we can see what we truly have.

as for shein,eh who cares what kind of list he has. this year should actually be the true year DD shows his stuff. year 3 always has a major jump in play. now we add new coaching and the ZBS and possibly new players, so don't expect it to happen overnight. remember RG is the easiest of the 5 positions to play. munch will be a big help for DD though.

Schein isn't even a real football guy. No clue how he got the jobs he has gotten over the years. I'm not convinced he has a clue what he's talking about.

I think in the first third of the year Decastro was okay, not great, but by the end of the year he looked above average.

What I'm expecting is he improves some more and takes it to a new level.

Real thoughts - DD has been a zero so far. First year - hurt. Second year - took out our center for the season. Disappointment for a first round pick.

What don't I get? How much did he contribute his first year? How many other first round picks took out the best lineman on their team last year?

Jesus dude screws up one play and that means his season sucked. Players make mistakes it happens. Its really stupid to base a players whole season off one play. Big Ben threw a pick in week 3 he sucks also Brown stepped out against the dolphins which we didn't make the playoffs because of let's cut him.

I am not talking about one season, I am talking about 2. He hardly played his first season, remember? Problem is he was a first round pick. By the time he starts playing at that level he is going to be playing for someone else. I am not saying he did it on purpose, but I am sure when they drafted him they hoped for better than what they have got so far. That's why he is a disappointment.

Did he make a rookie mistake? Of course he did. Were we all not happy when he fell to us at 17? You bet we were.Lets see what the kid does for us.

You mean his first season when he got rolled up on in the oreseason so I guess its pouncey's fault so you can't blame that on Decastro you can't have it both ways.

He clearly doesn't by his evaluation of DD. I honestly have no idea what he was looking at to come to that conclusion.

Its all about production. Don't care about blame. The facts are he didn't do squat his first year and took out our best lineman his second year. I want better than that from our first round picks - don't you?

the first year is a wash you cant hold him getting injured against him. Last year yeah he made a mistake but as long as he continues to grow the way he did last year he is going to be great I dont care about one play. He was playing really good football at the end of last year

He was ranked 5th among RG last year and getting better all the time, thats what I want from my first round pick.

DD is a stud... Book it! Some folks drive me double F-K-N nuts with some of this. He was hurt his true 1st year. An accident happened in his second, but he balled hard throughout the season. He's a keeper get over it.
