unfortunately if a guy 5 ft 8 173 pounds add 10-20 pounds it will slow him down .. its not like a 250 pounder adds 10 pounds . if he adds 20 pounds thats about a 12% weight gain... thats gonna slow a small guy down ( a lot)

And you can't teach speed. Archer is faster, stronger, and has a higher vert then Austin and McCluster and they seem to do just fine.

Archer's verticle jump is almost 5 inches higher then AB's meaning he can get to balls that Brown can't.

I thought they drafted Bryant too, I could be mistaken, he's 6'4" after all and apparently the Steelers only draft midgets.

Darren sproles, Warrick Dunn, etc... I hope they utilize him everywhere! It's heart with these little guys and it's about time we add in a little wood head/ sproles to the bag O tricks!

no problem dob. I agree too we need some of this type of shimmy and shake to go with archers speed. if he can play DI football he can play in the NFL. he's a rare commodity. not everybody has this type of weapon and a stable of horses at WR and RB to go with him. and ST's forgedda boud it. he's a weapon at 3 phases of the game and people still bidch.

the main steelers roster has him listed as wr/rb. :smiley1::cool:

Not trying ot make a point... just trying to remember... 5... maybe 8?? years ago we had a small guy doing returns... while I cant remember call his name or the team we were playing... I will never forget these two monsters grabbing him and holdong him in the air show until they were able to strip the ball from him. Was that Logan? Such a BS non-call imo.

I think you're talking about the Chargers game back in '09. It was Stefan Logan and that was indeed BS.

archer is much stronger. heck I worry about blount fumbling too,or the night 3 of our rbs all fumbled and some multiple times or heath or hines, or bell even. fumbles happen but I remember the play. it was on a KO. he still I think plays for the lions.

It will still be Archer, although his versatility will probably open the door for another RB to make the squad. Maysonet, LSH, Alexander, Jordan Hall... there are plenty of guys that we could put on the roster. This player will likely be a game day inactive however unless there is an injury at the position.

We need to try everything and utilize every means possible for the W.
Big, small, fast, quick, short, tall, whatever...

I like what they've done this off season adding weapons of every sort.
one TD in the right time and place could make or break the season.

With any luck, they learn from the past mistakes.

Stefan Logan never saw the field, except on KR and PR.

Chris Rainey was very promising in preseason, but in the regular season teams knew he was going to get the ball thrown to him, and he was covered up before he could go anywhere. Except for the fumblebowl when he was repeatedly ran up the middle, even though this was the weakest area of his game.

I think Archer brings something more than both those guys, but he does need to be utilised in a range of areas to be effective.

Thing is, I like the fact that they keep trying to find that "one" and haven't given up as a failed experiment. Luck plays it's role and this one could be the one that sets the league on fire. You never know.

Let's just see what he can do on returns before anything else.

    Another thought:

Coming out of college, Barry Sanders was only 5'7.

I don't really care about how tall Archer is. I would like to see him put on some weight though. I don't think people would have as many concerns if he weighed 185 or 190.
