ok ESPN just did the whole 32 teams breakdown of best draft... they had the steelers as the best AFC draft and the niners as the best NFC teams draft... then the niners beat the steelers in the SB of drafts.. ok so we were one of 5 teams to get an A or A- in the draft and the best AFC team to draft.. soooooo how is this article .. also from ESPN possible?

    http://www.steelersdepot.com/2014/05/steelers-fall-three-spots-espns-post-draft-nfl-power-rankings/

how do we have the second best draft and drop 3 places.. the ravens have a worse draft and move up 3 spots... all i can figure is that a lot fo the free agent signings were a major factor and our best FA pickup was the OL coach.. just amazing the same network has us #2 one day then drop 3 places the next... tells me how much stock we shoud put in those graft grades and the ESPN idiots that grade them ..

All I ever hear every year, around here, is how much better the Clowns are gonna be...
    Then they play the games...
Same crap this year, they got Whitner, Dansby, Manziel, and some awesome cornerbak, they drafted before Johnny Football...
We will welcome them back to reality, when they start the year at Hine`s Field!!!!(Yes, I know it`s spelled wrong... See what I did there?:lolol:)...
HERE WE GO STEELERS! HERE WE GO!!!:herewego!::butcher:... We`ll moida tha bums!!!!!:club:

In all honesty nobody knows how good of a draft a team has until at least 4 years down the road. It's all a crap shoot for how certain players pan out for a team.

Gabe Rivera was a number 1 pick for the Steelers at one time who probably had a tremendous upside but never played a full season in the NFL. If he didn't play for the Steelers his unfortunate situation may not have ever happened and he might be a household name to any NFL fan that grew up in that era.

Tom Brady was a 6th rounder and has 3 SB rings. We could probably argue the cheating that took place but he didn't get there without being talented nonetheless.

A lot of people work for ESPN and it's only their opinions.......what matters is what we see each week out on the field.

First, the power rankings are opinion and especially at the moment are a crap shoot.

Second, this is just ESPN's MO. No matter what the drafts look like for either team, all you hear is how great of a job Ozzie did in the draft, one of the best GMs in the league, etc. etc.

Third, I truly believe the Steelers could have had the top 10 picks in the draft and the Ravens have the last 10 picks and ESPN would talk about how great a job Ozzie did at finding role players, and they they would move them up 3-4 spots in the rankings and move us down. They have a man crush on the Ravens.

keep in mind the state of every team when the draft started: we were coming off back to back 8-8 seasons, while the 49ers were coming off the nfc championship and a super bowl runner up the yr. prior.

also keep in mind that while i agree that the 49ers had a really good draft, they are also already stacked at just about every position..... the majority of their great draft won't contribute for another yr. or 2........ in truth, they could've had a horrible draft and because of the team that they already had in place, their spot atop the power rankings was going to be secure anyway....... the same holds true for most of the top teams from last season that didn't get pillaged by free agency
