It will be some boring LB or DE again that should not have been picked until the 3-4 round while our rivals grab playmakers. thats just how it goes for the last few years. at this rate we will be at the bottom of the division for years until colbert finally gets the boot... cant happen soon enough imo.

 

Don't forget to include Louis Nix, Martavis Bryant, Austin Safarian-Jenkins to the mix in addition to all the CBs.

 

I've had a feeling they might go this way for months now. He has a semi-Polamalu vibe I thought the team might fall in love with. Although I thought they'd trade back and target him in the low 20s, to try to get their 3rd rounder back. With the speed the pick was in, looks like they didn't even entertain that.

I had the position as my #3 need and so I was initially a touch disappointed, but I'm sure the team just sees him as more special than Dennard, or any of the DL or WR available. It took me all of about two seconds to come around and love the pick. I had Shazier neck and neck with Mosley, but with Shazier's ceiling and Mosley's injury history, how can you dislike this?

I will say I wish Fuller had been available, to see if the team still would have gone with Shazier. But what're ya gonna do.

I wasn't much up on Shazier until the other day, and I'm very happy with the pick, even if I did want Dennard ideally.

 

I suspect as others have said, they wanted Fuller and didn't think Dennard fitted our defence so they went for their perception of the best playmaker on defence available. He's certainly a scary athlete, his production at Ohio has been huge and he's as i understand intelligent and a leader. Can't dislike the pick even if I did want a corner.

 

Interesting that the NFL draft coverage showed footage of Shazier teaking his hammy during the combine.

Would this be a concern and considered an injury that could nag him?

Steelers had him in for a visit, you'd assume they had some assessment done on this? Doesn't have a history of injuries does he? He ran at his Pro Day didn't he?

Welcome Shazier. Here is too ruling the inside. Between Jarvis Jones, Shazier, Timmons, and Worilds, and the depth, of Williams, Moats, Garvin. Our LB's core is the deepest of anybody in the NFL.
