:read::yeehaw::clapping::rawk: Sweetness. Hope he can compete and be a factor.

    :applaud:

He may have been given a clean bill of health, but he is back to 100% yet? I hope he gets there.

I doubt it personally, but we'll see. Like any and all Tomlin pressers, his answers are generically positive, punctuated with a 'wait and see'.

It would be so huge if he comes back and is a factor. My biggest fear as always is not getting back onto the field but staying there. Will that injury hold up to the rigors of football? Does clean bill of health mean that it is as good as new? Or as good as its ever going to get and therefore more susceptible to re-injure? Hopefully good as new.

    Great news for Spence.

Leaves the FO with more of an interesting choice, though. Can any of the 4-5 guys competing for the spot next to Timmons promise as much as anyone in this draft? All are unpolished, some have questionable ceilings... I'm not sure it completely rules out picking an ILB in the mid-rounds.

    BUT

Great news for Spence. If he battles his way back into the starting line up, that would just be beyond immense.

I would argue that with an injury of this magnitude you could never be " as good as new"

So it's possible he comes back nearer of what was new or what he use to be but doubt he comes back to 100%

That's what I said they shouldn't use a high draft pick on a ILB, they should draft one in the later rounds to develop.

My bet is they try to move him into the safety role (Troy's role) this year and see how he fares.

I don't think so... He was a fast LB, but even before the injury he wasn't fast enough to be a DB in my opinion. A speedy LB, sure, but not a safety. Stands to reason that he's less athletic now than he was as a rookie. If he's really healthy I think there's a role for him right now as a passing-down LB, with the potential to grow into a 3 down LB.

Besides, we've got safeties growing out of our ears and still question marks at ILB.

Here's to hoping the kid is ready to strap on the hard hat and start trucking!

Holding out hope, but the kid's already 2 years removed from on-field football instincts. Concerned he won't be able to catch up.

If he had been an All Pro I would have my doubts after two years.

He's been deeply immersed in everything but actual play, I think the rest will come back pretty quickly once he gets out there. Staying out there is a much bigger worry IMO.
