Right now, I'm in the Dennard, Fuller, or Gilbert camp. Follow that with a WR unless a few of the impact DEs are still there...guys like Tuitt, Nix or Hageman.

I would be all for dropping back a few spots and picking up an additional pick in the 3rd.

I don't know how guys like Mayock can make changes to their rankings so often/close to the draft.

I would assume its from tape he has been watching moreso than any actual one thing that has happened since the season ended.

Mayock's a busy dude. He's probably watching as much tape as he can nowadays.

No in round 2 take a WR unless one of those guys is there.

This is certainly what I want and probably what many of us want. CB/WR as 1/2. However, if the QBs don't go early, there won't be any decent CBs worthy of #15. Hope Colbert has a good Plan B and Plan C. And pray for Bortles, Manziel and Bridgewater to all go early.

So true... he is doing it for ratings... Any media guy who is making changes by now are doing it for media attention.

Mayock also has an infatuation with Va Tech DBs. He's been like that for some time despite mainly mediocre success at the NFL level.

Yes, if the QBs go early we'll have some decent options... But on the bright side, if a QB unexpectedly falls to us, that increases the value of our pick and we'll probably get a better deal to trade down. It's probably not that simple, but it makes me feel better :)

he's always liked fuller, I think it's meaning he likes him as a fit for us at 15. I'm not real worried about the deep stuff with him, we have two fast safeties back there. one runs a 4.40 and the other 4.3's.

as it says he more of a keenan lewis type. probably the #2 CB and I'm fine with that. he's got skills within them 20 yard routes. he a good run support corner too. it's not like he can't play the deep ball but out of it all that may be his weakest point. I thought it was always said cortez is the heir apparent to ike.

I look at the top 5 CBs this year like my favorite top 5 flavors of ice cream. I like them all and won't be upset if I get a bowl of any but I just prefer one flavor more than the others. I'm sure others have different favorites for different reasons.

Fuller has good coverage skills, good size and good ball skills. Mayock just wanted too see Fuller run a sub 4.5 40 in order to justify making him his top pick. TV dramactics also plays a little into this but if Mayock becomes too "made for tv" he'll lose credibility.

Verrett probably has the best coverage skills but his shorter stature and smaller hands hurt him. Dennard is probably the best overall CB in zone or 1-on-1 and run support. Gilbert is my favorite because he has the size, speed & coverage skills to match all others. His run support isn't as good as Dennard's but his return skills are superior to all others. The way he attacks the ball is also among the best.

I truly hope we go CB in the 1st. Gilbert or Dennard at 15. They will be Pro-bowlers soon. I'd be happy with Fuller next even at 15 but this may be a bit early but I'd rather get him a bit early than lose him if we trade back too far.

I heard Mayock here in Charlotte just the other day talking about this move...his comment on Fuller....day 1 starter. Maybe not the high ceiling of Gilbert, but also not the risk. Same with Dennard. In other words he feels Fuller is the SAFE pick, but maybe the others could eventually be better. I find it funny....Day 1 starter. Didn't he mock him to the Steelers? LOL!

Kam Chancellor is from Va Tech, I would say he's good.

I'm not saying all Va Tech DBs have been mediocre. Obviously Chancellor, Flowers & Deangeleo Hall all have been solid. But the list of Va Tech DBs that were hyped and failed to produce is a long one: Vincent Fuller, Eric Green, Jimmy Williams, Aaron Rouse, Macho Harris, Rashad Carmichael & Jayron Hosley. These guys never lived up to expectations.

Once again, I'm not advocating not to take Va Tech DBs, I'm just saying that almost every year, you will find a Va Tech DB amongst Mayock's Top 5 Safeties or CBs. There is something he likes schematically about them.

to be honest those guys were not really busts either. one thing about VT players, they were usually well schooled on special teams play. maybe that has something to do with mayocks rankings of them. who knows?

I like fuller because of his football smarts. he really does at times run the routes better than the receivers. sure there are guys that are bigger and run faster and jump higher, but fuller is quick, smart, and very willing to come up and make plays against screens and runs. to me he's more of a guy similar to what hines was as a receiver. a guy that shouldn't be as good as he is by looking at him but gets it done at a high rate somehow.

I view van noy the same way. he's just smart in his play, and that counteracts what they are trying to do against him. just football smart guys with plenty of reaction to go with it. again maybe not the biggest or fastest, but good dang football players that can make your team better.

I think martin the OT from ND is in the same mold.

Watch Fuller's tape vs. Georgia Tech last season. He played most of the game as an in-the-box safety (linebacker really), and was very solid defending Tech's ultra-run heavy wishbone. Fuller and Gilbert are the only corners I would take at 15.
