Due to the draft being pushed iIwas wondering just how everyone got here. Me I didn'thave a choice. I'm from Beaver PA and have a steel worker as a father and my grandma worked for the mill as well. This isn't trying to question anyone fandom or anything like that as it doesn't matter how you got here as long as you got here.

My mom and dad bought season tickets when they came home from WWII. When Three Rivers opened in 1970 they bought tickets for my brother and I. Going on my 45th season. Dad had a season ticket for over 50 years.

I also started watching in 1975. I was five years old and my dad watched the Steelers. My dad has three daughters and, to this day, we are way bigger Steeler fans than he is.

My father and I made wager on the Super Bowl. I took the Steelers, he took the cowgirls. The wager was 6 cents, the cost of a chocolate milk at my school. Been a fan ever since.

Since growing up in the Chicago burbs ( and being born 3 weeks after the Bears lone Superbowl) it was shoved down my throat that the Bears were the greatest thing in the world. However also for as long as I can remember while watching the Bears on Sunday all I heard my dad say was how stupid the coach was and how cheap the owners were. I loved football and didn't really have a team so I became more a fan of individual players. Emitt Smith, Reggie White, Rod Woodson, and John Elway were some of my favorites originally, since my brothers and I had bought Madden 95 for our computer and we drafted our own teams and those were some of the guys on my team. But very shortly after that I became a huge Jerome Bettis fan. (Thought that the Bus was an awesome nickname).

The rest as they say is history. He stuck with the Steelers for so long that following him was following the Steelers and I was slowly turned into a die hard fan because I wanted my favorite player to win a Superbowl.

When I was 4, my bedroom had Steelers decor that was left behind by the previous owners. It was love at first sight I guess.

Also when I was a little kid, my mom's family were all Pats fans and they hated the Steelers. That just seemed to reinforce my love for Pittsburgh.

Mine is similar to Strummers, except it was a bet with my brother, who is a diehard Cowboys fan and for a nickel. Being just a kid and having no idea, I asked my dad, he looks at me very confidently and with a nod, he says, "take the Steelers". Been a fan ever since '76:towel:

I was a Denver Broncos fan as a kid watching SB 12. The Cowboys and Staubach beat Morten and the Orange Crush. I hated the Cowboys after that. The next year it was the Steelers and Cowboys again - and of course the Steelers won. I starting liking the Steelers because they beat the hated Cowboys. I have been a Steelers fan ever since that SB 13 victory.

My dad was with my mother in central South Dakota visiting my moms parents (my grandparents) when the Steelers played the Vikings in the Superbowl. Vikings or Broncos are people in South Dakotas choices as a home team. The entire house except for my uncle Rocky (I am named after him) thought the Vikings would win. My uncle Rocky told my dad to take any and all bets he could afford because the Steelers were going to win. My dad took his advice and made over $350 and he became a fan that day. I am the oldest so starting at a young age dad and I would and still do watch our beloved Steelers every Sunday possible. I was born in 72'.

My mom brought my brother and I the old electric football game that came with the Cowboys and Steelers. I chose the Steelers and my brother chose the Cowboys. I've been a fan ever since and that was 1979.

I started watching nfl long time ago, but without any specific team to support. Because this sport wasn't that popular in Europe and you don't have that rival-friend to tease when his tim sucks. And it all looks quite boring at the begining comparing to real football and probably i had some prejudices as lot of people here about american football.

But then it became funny and i started to get more interested in, watching more and more games. Actually i don't remember how i became a Steelers fan but i think it all starts with afc championship game against ravens. I supported steelers in that match and than in sb against cardinals. Since then the love I have for Steelers just grows :)

I'm of the "younger" generation, being born in '82 that missed out on the Glory days of the 70s. Being born in Eastern Canada, which is kind of a Patriots fan base, I wasn't initially attracted to the NFL, cherishing the CFL instead. For reasons unknown, I happen to catch a clip of the Steelers introducing Bill Cowher as their head coach and thinking how cool he sounded. I went out and bought the new Madden game that year and started using the Steelers. Its been a love/sometimes-unhealthy-obsession since! :lolol:

SB XIII, I was 8 and my older brother a Cowboys fan living in CT. I was hooked forever. My brother, well, once Staubach was gone went on to be a Bronco/Elway fan, then a GB/Favre/Rogers fan. Guess that can happen when living in a team-less state, but not me.

My Dad jumped on the bandwagon when they were winning championships in the 70's. He took me along for the ride. Yes second generation bandwagon jumper but I grew up loving them in the 80's so you know "I'm down with the sickness".

Became a fan in and around 77 and the only reason I became a fan of the Steelers was because they were winners. Totally started out as a band wagon thing and turned into a love affair. A real passion for all things Steelers. Being Canadian I take great pride in being a fan of the greatest football in the world. Hate the CFL.

Been to the Burgh a few times and before I die I expect to go a few more :)

No clue, lived in East Liberty and Homewood in the 70's and Grandpa was a huge football fan. Always had the only color TV on when they were playing. I used to jump on the bed while he was wooping (literally) and stomping the floor!

I'm not sure about the timing as some would argue I was born a fan. But I remember actively watching games in the low to mid 80's. Quite the opposite of jumping on the bandwagon. ;)

I came to the same conclusion about the Chargers as the Mannings did. My realization came in '72. I jumped on the B&G bandwagon then because they were winning and, I liked the uniform colors!
