Just wanted to confirm something.....There is no way that the Bengals can clinch a playoff spot before they take the field on Sunday afternoon...No matter what happens to the Jets and Tennessee in the early games next Sunday, the Bengals must win because the Raiders could get that last wild card spot...Am I correct on this?? I really think the Bengals can beat the Ravens because the Ravens are really beat up right now..

    from NFL.com's playoff picture page:

    CINCINNATI BENGALS
    REMAINING OPPONENTS: vs. Ravens (11-4)

CLINCHING SCENARIOS: Pretty simple. Beat Baltimore and the Bengals wrap up a wild-card berth as the No. 6 seed.

COMMENT: Bengals only shot at playoffs is to win next week. Their inferior conference mark would eliminate them in a 9-7 tiebreaker.

EDIT: didn't notice truckin9999's post. he has it covered in much more detail.

Correct... Cats win they are a 6 seed lose they are out.

This can't be true. Cincy is the only 9-6 playoff hopeful. Oak, TN, NYJ are 8-7, if they all lose Cincy will be 9-7 and will get the wild card with a lose.

True fan they can still get in with a loss as long as all the other teams you mentioned lose as well. I was wrong. Thanks for correcting me. Nice pick up!!

I think by moving Cinci to the late game they really need to win. If Cinci loses the stars need to align. Win and they're in. If the TEN + NYJ games (early games) go their way with losses by both, provided a CIN loss, then OAK is a late game. It could happen, but not likely.

    CINCINNATI BENGALS
    Cincinnati clinches playoff spot with:
    1) CIN win or tie OR
    2) TEN win + NYJ loss or tie + OAK loss or tie

    Go BenGALS!

they can clinch losing if jets lose at 1 oak or denver lose at 4 .
so if the jets win in miami they have to win ,in anycase they will play like a playoff game

Good point freakfontana...The main thing here is that no matter what happens in the early games they will not clinch a playoff spot prior to the start of their game

I've accepted the fact that the Steelers are a 5 seed. The Bengals suck, didn't realize until this morning while I was waiting for my family to get up that they almost gave away the game vs the Cardinals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0Vd7pQelzM

I cheered on Cleveland yesterday, but they suck. 4th and 5 and what do they do? Pass the ball behind the line of scrimmage and lose a yard. Previous play Wallace couldn't complete a screen.

Good for Houston, because they not only get their 1st playoff appearance, but they might get their first playoff win. None of these potential 6th seed teams are any good. This will put the Steelers vs Pats and Texans vs Ravens. Is it just me or does the AFC seem wide open this year, where no team is really that strong right now. Any of the three real contenders could get hot and put on a run. I just can't stomach a 4th ring for Brady or a ring for the Ravens. I'd imagine either one of them will lose to the Saints or Packers. Let's just hope the Steelers can catch some lightning and have a repeat of 2005.
