There are two impacts to the Steelers due to the projected fall of some of the top QB. Seems like Bridgewater and/or Manziel could both fall out of the top 10 and could be there at 15. BPA to me says we seriously consider taking one (Ben is 32) and the other impact is that at 15 there will 2 less non-QBs taken before we pick. We'll see how this plays out.

Me, I think I'd rather take Mettenberger in the 3rd if possible and let Jones/Mettenberger battle it out to see who will replace Ben in 3-4 years.

    Interesting thread, but...

I would be very surprised if both of them aren't taken before we pick, but if that's not the case, then one would think they'd make for good trade bait.

    No... Too early.

And if we waste another mid-round pick on a crap QB for the second year in a row I might cry.

if you take best player available then you wouldn't be taking a qb even if they are there. I have heard that both are in the 20's as far as that goes. I don't think we have to worry about it but I wouldn't want either of them anyway

Oh boy, I took heat for suggesting a QB in the 6th :lolol:

It happened to be Mettenberger too, I'd take him in the later rounds but not at 3 and definitely not at 1.

I think some of the QBs you mention could potentially fall the way you mention, but I still don't see us taking one of them. It doesn't make sense unless you believe one of them is the next Aaron Rodgers who sits on the bench for a couple of years prior to being a stud.

To me, the greater impact of them falling is the potential it brings to move BACK in the draft. I could see us potentially moving back to Houston's #1 next year and their #2 and/or low pick this year in order for them to trade back up and get the QB they want, maybe Manziel, AND still being able to take Clowney with the #1 overall pick. Our #2, #3, and #4 picks last year all look like potentials and with the #1 pick in the 2nd round, it is basically a really low #1 pick. It helps us with our value issues with the current draft AND gives us an additional pick next year. In addition, we might be able to package some of our regular low round picks to move back into the 3rd or 4th this year since we have some comp picks we can't move.

I would agree with you of taking a QB like Mettenberger in the 3rd not in the 1st, if they hadn't drafted Jones last year in the 4th. They picked Jones now it's their job to develop him, too many other pressing needs to think about drafting another QB.

The only way I'm taking a QB in the draft is if Ben is traded for a king's ransom of draft picks.

manzel. he could be bens minime and sit on his shoulder and run around until ben tired than he can give the ball to minib and he can run around for awhile. all the while tiring out the defenses by mid first qtr.. we also keep him away from the browns and us having to chase him around twice a year. what a plan.:hmmm::think::cool:

We have WAY to many needs to be
selecting a QB this year.Of course that don't
mean much considering we drafted one last year.
