id rather have lucas mccain (google it) than the worst ranked CB last year.. i guess my question is .. WHY?

My guess is he's a camp body? I'd be shocked if he was any more than that. There's a good chance he doesn't even make the team...

Ehh, maybe he's good as a gunner on ST's. Why sign him now, though, when he'd more likely to be desperate later in the summer and could sign for less?

Well, he's fast. I mean a 4.33 on his Pro Day at Utah.

 

I would be curious to see what Lake can do with him.

 

In this guy's case, I doubt it ... mostly because I'd be shocked if he got anything more than the minimum and nominal signing bonus.

 

I don't see how he would be any different than Antwon Blake, Anthony Madison, or even Curtis Brown. As for why they signed him? They signed him to be in competition for the final CB spot on the roster. His ST's play will dictate whether or not he has a chance. It's not like they are hoping he will be our starting nickel back, or they have tons of money invested in him...

 

Steelers get McCain for vet minimum plus $65 K bonus. He will count $635,000 against their cap. That means he adds $215 K to cap as top-51

 

Sometimes as we have seen throughout our storied franchise interceptions are not the be all and end all. They certainly are fun to watch and can be considered momentum and game changers but passes defended
are a good stat as well.. Unfortunately Brice does not do well in that category either haha.

I think this might be as the others have stated a camp body.

Special teams gunner and a warm body at the corner. Not much else but that's the way he's being paid so - meh.

 

Lake didn't do anything with Curtis Brown a 3rd bust, McCain will probably take Brown's role on special teams.
