I think the Steelers had no choice after Cotch signed the ridiculous contract with the Panthers.

Agree that it is a ridiculous contract (and the Steelers are better for NOT trying to match/beat it) but that still won't stop the anti KC/MT lynch mob from bemoaning this signing and their failure to keep Crotch.

yeah what is he 5 ft 9? lol.. i was 5 ft 9 once... in the 5th grade... damnnnnnn .. maybe we can get him some 3 inch lifts for his shoes.. i bet ben is pisssed ...lost a 5 ft 11 receiver (manny) for a 5 ft 9 receiver .. lost a 32 year old receiver (cotch) that knew the system that ben knew and trusted for a 30-31 year old unknown receiver that is 3 1/2 inches shorter then cotch .. i smell desporation...

Give Lance Moore a shot, he plays slot pretty well and did half way OK for the the Saints. We needed some more depth good depth signing. Draft some more WR's for the future.

from what i hear lance is a hell of a guy and a great teammate and great in the locker room... same as cotch.... and when all is said and done... im guessing the money will be close to what cotch got from the panthers.. they are about the same age.. but cotch is 3 1/2 inches taller for the red zone and cotch knows the system and ben loved him and had total faith in him.. just makes no sense to me for probably the little difference in the contracts ... im not dogging lance moore for anything (except he is a much smaller target for ben) and as we all know .. ben tends to overthrow even his tallest targets ( a lot) ...

I'm guessing you guys dumping on this signing have never seen him play. Guy plays a lot bigger than his listed height.

well if he can play 3 1/2 inches BIGGER he will be = to cotch .. haha... i see people saying great signig for depth... we need WR starters NOT depth... time wil sell but i see it as downgrade over cotch... just from the chemistry with Ben alone and knowing how ben is begging for tall receivers and we jsut got one that 3 1/2 inches shorter.. no sense to me and i HOPEEEEEEEEEE to hell im wrong and i eat my words ..

I really dont give a rip how tall you are so long as you play like your 8'.. Grit and grind is worth more.. Antonio can do alot with his small frame. It's kinda like me with my small ..... Oh wait thats an entirely different conversation lol

As my dad use to say " it's not how big it is it's how mad it gets " This applies to football as well HAHAHAHA

with Sanders leaving they needed a guy to take his spot.

im not sold on Wheaton or Moye yet and they couldnt go into next season with AB an a bunch of guys that havent done anything yet.

i think with that signing and unless they score a big wr in the draft all signs are pointing to them bringing Plax back.

this team is in bad financial shape and these are the kind of signings they can make. they have to hope they have a great draft and that they can pick up a few more low end FA otherwise its gonna be a tough season again for them.

the offense started playing better as the season went on, but they have lost 3 guys of that offense so far in Dwyer, Sanders and Cotch.

hopefully Wheaton and Moye can take that next step and at this point im hoping they draft Evans. that could be a game changer for their offense if the can land him.

Seriously. This is great news! A definite FA win for us. And even if he played like he was 5'9", who cares? Was Cotchery great for us because of all those fades and leap balls he won? We needed a good player, and we got one.

ok... let me pose this question.... if we could keep cotch or pick up lance moore... and lets say cotch is a half mil more per year (we dont know that but we do know cotch woud have taken some less to stay in Pitt) .. so would you rather have a know product in cotch for 1/2 million more or lance moore ...

    i will take keeping cotch

the impulse is to choose Cotch.. He is a known commodity. Lance is not. So you always go with what you know. We are Steeler fans though so its expected this kinda crazy stuff is going to happen.. The FO never spends a great deal of money on players unless they have been with the system a good deal of time and they feel like there is alot of future potential. Clearly they did not see that with Cotch. Were they being cheap or smart or a bit of both. Personally I think they appear to be cleaning house.

yep i can see cleaning house.. but i think cotch was a poor one one to clean out considering who they replaced him with and im guessing the pennies they saved.. i can see cutting woodley and the big buck guys .. but cutting guys to say pennies is jsut crazy .. again.. as you said if you are picking up a player that 5 years younger and has potential .. i agree.. but to get a guy a year youner... 3 1/2 inches shorter... unknown... to save maybe 1/2 mil (and thats a guess) .. is just nuts i think and again .. you know cotch would have given us a hometown disc.. how many tiems did he say he wanted to stay here .. like ike and clark..

This is a solid pick up. Might mean that we won't be kicking the tires with Plax after all... Looks like we will still be drafting a WR fairly early in the draft though. AB Wheaton Moore Moye JBrown and a high end draft pick doesn't sound too bad to me.

Yeah. They got Stills, we get Moore. They aren't dumping him because he sucks. He just no longer fits as well with a young star around. It's win-win.

Plus, he was half of the greatest touchdown celebration in NFL history last year. I hate those, but that was the only one that's ever gotten the HugeSnack seal of approval. Anyone have the gif?

I've watched him some and he's a decent player. I mentioned before my main problem with signing him or someone like him is what are we going to do on the dline? Also what about Brown and Moye? Are they going to ignore a solid WR draft class in favor of a 30 something midget?

That is kinda what I was thinking Cotch went from don't really need him, don't want him to a must resign, have to have him back. I don't get it.
