Just read on profootballtalk.com that Lomas Brown (a former offensive tackle for the lions and now an espn analyst) admitted to purposely whiffing on a block so his then QB Scott Mitchell would get hit and hurt because Mitchell was having a bad game. The game was against the Packers in Wisconsin and the lions were down 24-3, and i guess mitchell had thrown a few interceptions. Brown was tired of losing so he gator armed the packers defensive end and Mitchell got hit, and broke his finger and had to leave the game. This is sickening, I understand nobody wants to lose in a competitive sport like football, but for god sake you can't try to purposely try to hurt your own teammate and get him knocked out the game. Its the coaches decision to make the decisions on these type of things. So much worse could have happened besides a broken finger. For Brown to admit this is just wrong, and the best part about it, Brown is one of the players suing the NFL for not doing enough to prevent concussions. Meanwhile he is admitting to purposely trying to get his own QB hurt. Im appalled by this, just cant believe he would even admit to this.

I always thought Scott Mitchell was an ok qb too. Given I was very young when I saw him I know that I was probably wrong but I still thought that. I also thought Herman Moore was pretty good too. Then they also had some running back but I can't remember his name.... uh.... it was.... uh.....

This is very common in sports. For anyone who listens to Ross Tucker on Sirius, he's talked about this thing in the past and he's a former OL. He said he has seen it countless times, and once an OL let his guy go unblocked, the QB got knocked out cold, then the OL walked over the QB who was laying on the ground and chirped at him. I guess the QB had been bad mouthing the OL. This happens quite a bit and has probably happened on our team at various points (maybe not this year, or last year, but at some point I'm sure it's happened).

This happens in other sports too. I've played a lot of hockey in my life, and have seen similar scenarios happen in hockey. A defenceman might push an opposing player into his goalie, or he might purposely plow into his own goalie if he gets pushed from behind by an opposing player.

What it really shows it that football truly is the ultimate team sport. No individual can single-handedly win a game of football, no matter how good he is.

Scott Mitchell was not okay. He was terrible. Barry is and was my favorite player of all time. I watched every Lions game I could with intensity, and begged Detroit to get a real quarterback.

    That is horrible of Brown.
