these past 2 years have been the biggest roster turnover that i can recall. we've lost hood, dwyer, kiesel, woodley, woods, clark, foote. Last year, we lost ward, farrior, hampton, harrison, lewis, stark, wallace. that is huge in 2 years.

i remember from the 1970's team that lost great players in 1980, 1981, 1982: sam davis, gerry mullins, jon kolb, rocky bleier, joe greene, lc greenwood, dwight white, stever furness, jack ham, jt thomas, mike wagner.

Mistakes by the front office will cause that kind of turnover. Hanging onto guys too long and drafting the wrong guys is why we are facing the issues we are. Not letting NE have Sanders for a 3rd was one of the dumbest things Colbert has ever done. We weren't a SB contender last year with or without Sanders and Colbert should have realized that. He also should have realized Sanders wasn't worth the money he would want so we would just end up losing him. We basically pissed away a 3rd round pick.

he had cowhers help. cowher and colbert together were by far better player evaluators than tomlin colbert. that's my story and i'm sticking to it. not to mention , i like tomlin and wasn't a huge fan of cowher, but cowher could build a defense almost to a fault.

i just hate seeing our franchise QB's years go by with bad o-lines and our defense now decimated around him while the years tick away. are you really happy with the drafts and moves since it's been tomlin and colbert making them? colbert has also built our scouting department and we have two recent full drafts without one player left. as you said in another thread, we are the 2nd worst drafting team as of late. i'm not sure then how this is not the fault of the GM. he's in charge. yes, i'm sure we can find a few examples to go against my thinking but overall and deep down, you know somethings wrong around here.

to much losing players, overpaying players, keeping players too long that are no longer preforming. it's all up to the GM to limit this and field a winning team around our franchise. he won't be here forever. we are the pittsburgh steelers fans and we expect more than others. make it so kev or go back to detroit. sorry about the headache in advance glenn. LOL i don't overreact to often but something is missing around here and he's in charge. thats all i have to say about that. run forest run.:smiley1::cool:

LOL actually my wifes name and it pizzes her off when i say it like forest. LOL. stir the pot here and at home it keeps us busy and keeps the threads interesting.:lolol::cool:

Never said he did, but he hasn't impressed me for quite a few years now. Too many bad picks and questionable moves.

This is kind of a depressing off season.
    Lots of players leaving.

All players we needed to cut ties with though. These are guys that weren't exactly helping us win the last few years.

again shaner you are 100% correct.. we can go 8-8 with or without that guys we lost.. no big loss .. but most of the guys we are bringing in are no better or worse than the guys that left so we are not upgrading.. just staying on track for another 8-8 ish season .. if we are lucky... i think with the current team we can go 6-10 a lot easier then we go 10-6 .. nice to see someone else here is realistic ..

The HC has final say on personnel moves. Hence why Cowher's drafts were generally very good, no matter who (Donohoe or Colbert) was the GM.

Stop covering for Tomlin, who is the #1 reason this team's ship is sinking fast. The man has absolutely no philosophy about the football team he wants. None. Zero. Zilch. There is no stamp, here. There is no identity anymore. That's why this team looks thrown together, resembles a car made up of spare parts.

Although I think there's a large amount of truth in this post, I don't think Tomlin has final say. I think Tomlin has a huge amount of influence as to who is drafted, but at the end of the day it's Colbert's call. Perhaps things were different under Cowher, but I don't think that's the case now. I just don't think the Rooney's trust Tomlin enough to give him that kind of power. They didn't even trust him enough to let him pick his own coaches.
