Don't expect him back with the Steelers, his agent said he will not play for anything near the veterans minimum. Don't let the door hit you on the way out then. I don't think there are many teams willing to pay a 35 year old DE big bucks.

I think he'll resign in the summer with the extra Woodley money.

He will if he wants to play, and he said he wants to keep playing. He doesn't have much in the way of leverage at this point.

Hope he gets signed.... he can still play, he may be older, but he doesn't have a lot of tread on the tires....

You know there is a saying that NOTHING is worth anything more than what someone is willing to pay for it. You can list a new Camaro at 50,000, but if you don't have any buyers willing to pay you over 30,000 no matter what it cost you to build it, it is worth 30,000.

Same is true with Keisel. He may think he has plenty of tread on those tires. He may think he is worth a whole bunch of money. I think the reality is, he gets less than 1.5 million. If we were going to spend 2.5 per year, we might as well have just kept Woods who is younger and getting better, not getting old.

Keisel is only worth what the market will pay him. I don't think he will make much more than the veterans min, but we shall see. Harrison overvalued himself last year, got cut and made less money. Steve Smith probably just learned the same lesson here in Charlotte. I doubt he makes more than he would have had he simply taken a cut. I love Keisel, but would only want him at less than a million on a one year deal.

Don't recall seeing that, but agents NEVER have a client who will play for at or near the minimum...yet so many vets do. :hmmm:

keisel can still get after the QB make no mistake of that. he had nearly 2 to 1 more pressures than any other player on this team in 2012. someone will pay more than vet minimum. contrary to popular belief, a lot of teams have a lot of money they HAVE to spend. just not us. keisel is still better and worth more than what we will have to pay for a new guy WE NOW HAVE TO FIND, just so we have a starter at one of our DE positions.

A little O/T question! Do any of our players represent themselves? Just curious 'cause that would have to be awkward!

Losing Hood and Woods, probably gives Keisel`s agent "Some" Leverage...
Alll I gotta say is, I hate this time of year, when the financial side of the "game"/"Business", comes into play...
Bottom line is, I want Brett on our team, whether we lost other guys, or not...
Yeah, it seems more important to have him back, now that we have lost a couple other players, along the D-Line..
But, I wanted him back, before we lost them...
He has heart...He has integrity. He is a classic "Steeler".
Now we gotta see if we can keep him, after his agent says "He won`t play for minimum wage"..
Dammnit!!!! I get, that they gotta do what they gotta do...
But vet minimum, is far from "minimum wage"!!!
And if he, personally wants to start, I can understand that.
    He has earned that right.
I believe he could still start for us, or other teams.
I doubt that other teams are ligning up to give him a big contract at his age...
As is, I would REALLY like to see him finish his career here, while being fairly compensated, as the veteran, that he is...
To come off the bench, IF, a rookie can play better than him, or, to teach the kids that come to Pittsburgh, how to play the game!
The more I`m hearin, the more it sounds like he will be gone, or retiring, and that`s just a damn shame, to me...
I think he can still be a solid contributor to our "D"...
And it sounds to me, like his agent is the one, gonna screw up the chance for that to happen.
    Rant over.:shots:
    GO STEELERS!:beard::herewego!:

Yeah there are a few out there that do. There was an article about when teams were allowed to contact agents but not players and if the player represents himself they can't contact him.

There is a difference between smith and Keisel. The Panthers FO wanted Smith gone for his disruptive attitude.so it's been reported anyways. Maybe they said that because Smith is a fan favorite here in Carolina. Keisel is Loved by the Steelers FO. Hard working High character community conscience minded player. I also think DaBeard knows his time is winding down and this is it so he must be thinking how is it going to end.

I really REALLY want him resigned to one more year even at 1.5 million. Maybe it comes post June 1st which is okay. He knows the system. He can be that leader/tutor for Arnfelt/Williams/draftee & come off the bench in relief providing that reliable break for the starters AND have one more SHEAR DA BEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!
