what do we do with the forgotten young cb we have? will he get his shot this year? get cut? he's going into his 4th season. how much will his presence matter to who and when we draft a new guy? can he play FS? where does he figure in or does he?

I have a hard time calling Brown "forgotten." I think the word "forgettable" better sums up his career to date. I'd love to see him take a step and be at least serviceable, but I wouldn't plug him into the offseason plans when making decisions on who to draft or who to sign.

what did we see in him and why hasn't lake been able to do anything with him to this point? I think if they plan on using him it could determine when we pick a corner or if we get one in free agency and even in the draft if they think he's fs material. FS is pretty slim this year in the draft, at least I think and would a rookie start even if we draft one back there? or, could it mean we take a corner, start allen and gay and use him as the nickel? could he determine if ike is kept? he's the guy in this mix that really is the unknown to me.

Brown was someone that I didn't particularly like at Texas, but he looked so good at the Combine, I had a hard time figuring how he would not be successful. Well people, this is why you can't put a whole lot of stock into the Combine.

He is a really good ST'er though.

I agree. I think he could be considered an "insurance policy" if all else fails, but this team needs to find a better use for that roster spot. I'll go on record though and say I think he'll probably get a helmet in September.

If his knee works then bring him back and let him compete. He's worth a preseason to compete as a special teamer alone. Like the rest of us, I have sadly given up on him ever starting at corner, but maybe he can finally get himself together enough to be a #4.

We'd all like that roster spot to go to a starter, but when was the last time we didn't wind up using a spot on a pure special teamer? If it shakes out that way again like it always seems to, he's not a bad way to go. Although a major disappointment, he still benefits the team by being on it. It's not like we'll have to pay anything for him. Absolutely give him a chance.

Brown could potentially make the roster this coming year as a special teamer, but that may be his only shot. It could be a numbers game...how many DBs do we keep could be the question. We usually keep 9 or 10 depending upon how many Dlineman we keep. He could be the #10 which means he won't only be competing against the CBs at camp, but also against whoever the 7th Dlineman could potentially be. So if the FO feels like they could lose N. Williams by not keeping him on the roster....guess what, Brown could be cut.

Time to go. Bottom line. All this let him compete stuff is all nice, and I agree but at this point realistically he isn't much more than camp fodder. He has had his chance for several years and will never be more than a STer and honestly even that is a stretch now with last yrs draft class and this years coupled with 3rd year guys we'll have plenty of Sters.

If he is cut he'll be there later in the year if by emergency we'd need him.

It's really sad, I had such high hopes for him.

He's on his rookie contract cutting him doesn't save muchso why not see what hhe's got. Also Madison madea nice living off special teams.

it used to be we had a guy make the roster on ST's and earn his way into some position play. just playing ST's without showing some talent to play a position makes me think we cut him and find a guy with position potential. to many guys that are ST's only on this team. brown, sly, green, blake and maybe even golden. let alone 3 ST's specialist kicker,LS,punter. that's 8 guys that take up space on gameday, and 4 of those are really no help anywhere else. at least Madison played some corner at times.

I think we have kept way too many of these type guys and it's hurt our depth. it's part of the reason we are in trouble on defense.

Took the words right out of my mouth.... I'm hoping we add a much needed difference maker to the STs in the draft .......Dri Archer.

I agree we don't need all of the special teamers...BUT, I'm not sure Brown is the one you ditch. Of the guys you mentioned, I'm not sure ANY of them would be in my plans.

Remember when battle and Madison left in the same year and our specials went from really good to horrible. Special teams is just as important as offense and defense.

    I sure was hoping

    but

People said he is useless, but they all had a scheme

Ol' Curtis Brown was the finest picker
to ever play for the team.

He has been here 3 years and hasn't developed at all and when he got the chance to play he looked lost out there. Time to move on and draft some more capable CB's.

He had his chances. Agree with the rest of the commenters on that.
Keenan Lewis outplayed him; Joe Burnett would have too, if he wouldn't have imploded.
Cortez Allen left him in the dust of the depth chart.
William Gay had to come back home to play 3rd corner. No Curtis Brown.
Should be 3rd corner by now. PS guys got on the field before he did.

Thanks for your time; made some money, got some nice workout gear. Get on with your life's work.
