DE from Seattle will be released he's 30 and big 6'4 325. Would you want to sign him? I would take him on a 2 yr deal he could replace Kiesel/Hood at DE.

I know he got called up and got a helmet towards the end of the year but I don't know if he got any snaps. I'm pretty high on him as well.

I think if they weren't so intrigued with Garvin he would have made the squad out of camp.

I think we keep Ziggy on a cheap deal. If not though I'd like it.

People saying no one over 30... We NEED starters. I love Arnfelt, but it's so unrealistic to expect him to go from UDFA, PS guy to starting lineup in year 2... Fans fall in love with these guys and think because they show some promise they're ready to just jump right in.

I'd like to think that about Ziggy, but I'm just not sure. Hopefully, he's not one of those guys who thinks they should "get paid like a first round pick", only to go settle for less money somewhere else.

I agree about Arnfelt. One thing about Bryant- he doesn't have much wear on his tires, so his age isn't really an issue.

    Good point on Bryant.

I dunno really. From what I've heard Ziggy is a team guy and busts his butt. You can't have a superstar at every position and he knows the scheme, so I'd love to keep him around... But it all depends what he's looking for.

No, we don't need proven starters. What we need is to admit that we're rebuilding so we can shed our bad contracts instead of extending/restructuring them, and quit signing new ones. Our refusal to accept the truth has already cost us Keenan Lewis and a 3rd rd pick we could have gotten for Sanders last offseason. It also kept Cortez Allen and Shamarko Thomas off the field too often last season. I would love to include Robert Golden on that list, but after being snow-jobbed all offseason about how much we liked him, he disappeared from our defense, so I have no idea if he can play at all.

The Steelers were one of the best teams in the NFL in the 2nd half last year. The has the potential to be a top 10 offense this year.

I want to see us take 1 receiver, and then spend the rest of the draft focusing on D... but we still need guys to start.

I'm not ready to blow it all up.

Ready or not, it's blowing up. It's been blowing up for 2 seasons now. Top tier players got old and are either old on the field or have been mostly replaced by lesser players. I said it elsewhere, and I'll say it again, you could replace Sanders with Calvin Johnson and this team isn't winning a Super Bowl. Toss in Jimmy Graham too if you like. As long as our defense is a mess, we're a mess, and our defense is getting messier and messier. We've got problems most everywhere, and are setting ourselves up for even more.

In short, I don't expect a bounce back year this season ... or in 2015.

ya never know until they try them either. will Johnson didn't even play the year before he started at FB for us. foster, woods, mclendon all were udfa or practice squad guys now with roles on this team. so it's not out of the question. a year in the system means a lot. arnfelt isn't a guy that needs to get stronger and faster in the weight room first. he came in fast and strong which means a lot.

Yeah, I'm a huge supporter of re-signing Ziggy to a fair deal. We developed him so let's keep him around, for all the reasons you stated. I don't think he'll be hard-wired to seek out mucho bucks, either, so it's very realistic we keep him for another 4-5 years at a reasonable total cap hit, say $12-18 million. Heck, another offseason of working hard and he could keep improving as he's still pretty young. Sometimes it takes a while to grow. Would hate to kick him out only to see him develop into a beast in another system in a couple more years.

Ziggy's been one of the most reviled players on the team, but I think re-signing him is an important part of the their off-season plans. The DE position is one of the biggest question marks for this roster. I've always thought Ziggy was a better fit on a 4-3, but I don't really see a team out there this off-season that's going to be in bad enough need to want to break the bank on him. Hopefully he comes relatively cheaply.

I think the only way the team signs Ziggy is at vet minimum, any more and let him walk, he is a breather for someone, that is all. I keep hearing serviceable about him, what does that actually mean? I think it means to let him come in and line up and basically forfeit a 6 yard gain on the ground to whatever side he lines up on, I hope he is gones, sorry but I see bust and this team needs to get rid of these types.

We have to be considering things on the Dline and keeping our options open. Keisel, Hood, and Woods....3 of our 4 DEs from this past year are free agents. While I like N. Williams, he needs another year to either sit on the end of the roster without a helmet or on the practice squad. Arnfelt, I think we can get 10-12 reps from per game, as he had a year of development this past season. He can spell Heyward for a few snaps a quarter without probably causing us any problems.

Personally, I want to bring both Hood and Woods back, but I'm not sure the FO agrees. Woods I expect back, but Hood has to be in jeopardy as he was basically only starting after being benched because Keisel got hurt. That can't go over well.

Fangupo is also a guy I'm not sure they are sold on despite keeping him on the roster for the whole year. He just didn't play that much. With Woods having the position flexibility and the limited number of snaps you get at the NT position nowadays, I don't take a NT until late or get one as a UFA, but still this Dline is going to be getting an overhaul.

That's pretty ridiculous. His pass rush is weak but no one is using the word "serviceable" as a cover for "terrible." It means something else.

If we happen to get this guy at all.
When he makes a great play in anyway I have already got my reaction.

    "RED BRYANT, YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM"

that alone is a selling point.

Totally disagree! We're a good draft and a couple FA away from being contenders!
