I have seen 2 mocks with us taking him. I know nothing about him. very rarely watch the gophers play. I see we interviewed him so I was wondering if any big ten guys can say a little about him. I hear he can play. one of those mocks also had us taking aj McCarron in the 5th so I don't think they know much

Hageman can ball... For us, who knows. If AJ is available to us at all, After filling some spots, I say grab him!

Honestly, I know I won't be enamored or a favorite for saying this, but I'd take AJ with our second... I don't think he'd be there at rd.2 much less a 5th, but the kids got moxie and a good heart. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he could get a good couple years on the bench and be a consummate pro and winner in the future

Hageman has a really good motor. He played mostly DT in the 4-3 in college, but played some DE at times too. Gets into the backfield quite a bit, and does a nice job getting his hands up. Plays a little high at times, but he was a TE convert... so he hasn't really been playing D-Line for a really long time. I like his speed for a guy that is 6'6'' 315 too. I think he could very easily play DE in a 3-4, and actually might be better suited for it based on his height. I think he would be a solid pick. DE isn't the biggest need in my mind, but he definitely could contribute on our team fairly quickly.

Yeah right they drafted a QB last year and some people thought it was a wasted pick. If GM Kevin Colbert drafted AJ in the 2nd he should be fired.

I agree with you on McCarron. I think he could be a pretty good QB in a few years, and he is definitely a winner. I just don't see a team with this many holes drafting a position in which we have absolutely no need. I like that you're thinking outside the box, but AJ won't be wearing the black and gold.

I have watch aj for a few years and would love to have him. that being said, he would be a pick that we cant afford to make. to many needs. in years past we could do it but not this year unless we would be happy with ben, jones, and aj as our three qbs. how much would we save if we lost bruce?lol

Hageman would be an excellent addition. He'd fit right in here. He does have a tendency to pop up high, but I don't think it's really an issue. At least, I think it's coachable.

I'd go on a rampage if they drafted McCarron.

AJ is no better than what we already have in Jones. Not sure why we would take him...

When you see his highlights he looks amazing...lots of athletic skill...but apparently he is boom or bust... he takes plays off and is not consistent. And he only recently started to shine, it took him a while. Steelers would need to decide if they can motivate him to change that, or if that is something they don't they can change about him.

I think #15 is a bit high for Hageman. He is a really good player, but if we are looking at DE in that range, I think Tuitt would have to be in the mix. I think Hageman is the better physical specimen, but I might have to give the edge to Tuitt as a football player, especially when it comes to his experience in a 3-4 defense.

Oh, I agree. I didn't realize we were talking about him at #15. That would be a reach for me.
