I want to know if you could have one of the following players in this years draft who would you take. I am excluding the qbs cause I am sure everyone is in agreement that we don't need that. I just want to see when given a choice which direction you would go

    jadaveon clowney
    Sammy Watkins
    Anthony barr
    jake Matthews
    eric ebron
    ha ha Clinton dix
    Khalil mack
    Justin gilbert
    Louis nix
    greg robinson
    darqueze dennard
    cj mosley
    mike evans

I know these are not all the players projected to go in the first but I think some we will have a shot at and some no way but I would like to know if we could go up and get one who you think is worth it. for me I want clowney or mosley but I don't think either is there and clowney is the only one I would trade up for.

I would love to have Clowney, but it's not happening. I would love Sammy Watkins to fall and we went up to get him. He can be a game changer from day 1.

Justin Gilbert. Defense wins championships as seen in this past superbowl. Realistically, we could use any of those players, they would all make this team better. But, it was our defense that had the colossal meltdown at the beginning of the season and the position in most need of an upgrade is CB. Dennard may be a better "cover" corner but I don't think that type of player fits as well with our current scheme. I would truthfully be happy with any of these players although Dix, Nix, Robinson, and Barr are all overrated to me; not saying they are not good, I just don't think they are as good as they are being talked up to be.

Easy pick for me, and it's Clowney.

Everyone wants to talk about his down senior year, and his character issues, I don't care about any of that.

Clowney is the best defensive prospect to come out of college in the past decade. Watkins and Matthews are both studs at positions of need, but I still take the potential hall of famer.

If that is the group, I think you go Franchise LT prior to D. Clowney is the guy you take if you don't believe that there is a franchise LT available. I take the LT only because I think it is harder to get that position filled than DE/DT. Heyward was a late 1st and looks to be everything we need from that position. Hood on the other hand? Woods looks promising as well. Keisel and A. Smith were both low picks. We have basically been looking for a stud LT for years.

I disagree with the statement that these guys will not all go in the first. I think they will ALL be first rounders, which is part of the reason I am excited. As guys move up and down the draft ranks and as the QBs get overranked and overdrafted, someone we like is going to fall to us.

I mean, Clowney is a no brainer. There's almost no way we can get him though (or Watkins, Barr, Mack Matthews) so out of the other guys I'd probably go Gilbert or Dennard. I think this is the draft where we have to think about getting a legitimate starting CB for the future. Allen looks good. Gay does too, but he isn't a long term solution at CB2. Outside of that we have NOTHING in terms of depth at the position that I feel comfortable trotting out on the field on game day. If Marquis Lee is still on the board at 15, I'd take a really long look at him though. He would be the only offensive player out of that group I'd go for (assuming Watkins is long gone).

Between the two I'd probably value Dennard higher than Gilbert. Only because I think his game is more suited to be productive in a zone scheme, while Gilbert seems more adept at man to man. Either would be a big win for us IMO, and could make the CB position a strength rather than a weakness in a short time frame.

would anyone be in favor of a huge trade to move up to llike 5 or 6 and get Matthews or Watkins? I know its not our way of doing things and I would hate it.

It would depend on what we're giving up, and how high we are trading up. There are only 2 players I would consider moving up for (Clowney and Watkins), and I would only do so if we were only moving up a few spots to get them. No way would I trade up to 5 or 6. But 10 or 11? I'd at least see what the other team's asking price was.

With the multiple needs the team has, trading up is off the table. There is just no plausible scenario where that would occur. They would have to give up too much.

I would take Matthews they need a long term solution at LT.
