I'm surprised this didn't make it here yet. Apparently Brown was acting like a diva after coming two catches short of wards record. He was texting Ben complaining and Ben just ignored him. When Bendid respond he said he wwouldn'tdeal with brown when he was acting like thatand that isn't someone he wants his kids cheering for. Brown talked about and said when Ben said that it made him realize how he was acting and he wouldn't want his kid to cheer for someone like that. Rarely do you see a qb draw the line in the sand with the top WR like that. This is now Bens team and he is proving it. I expect big things this year.

I have too many thoughts on this to express I will however say this a year and a half late is better than never.

I've never questioned Ben as a leader and I'm not sure why so many others do. I thought he began the process as soon as he became the starter in 2004. To tell Jerome Bettis that he should come back for 1 more year because he guaranteed him a Super Bowl? What rookies has the cojones to pull that off?

Was he immature from 2006-2009? Of Course. How many mid 20 year olds would be able to compose themselves after finding so much success so early? Everyone points to the leader that Hines Ward was. Do people forget he was charged with DUI & reckless driving at the age of 34.

I don't want to get into the whole Ben Roethlisberger argument again but I've always thought he had been treated quite harshly. He doesn't like to talk to the media. So what? Neither would I. He's always been actively involved in charities and the community. Not that it probably matters in the grand scheme of things, but I like that he is actively involved on the sidelines when the defense is on the field. At times he looks like he watches the game as fan does. He just doesn't sit there with his head down like Tom Brady.

Big Ben is just stepping into his prime. I think if we develop the O-line through Munchak, give him another weapon on O and help him out with a better defense, Big Ben can get us back to the Super Bowl.

I agree. Ben has developed into a great leader. He knew his place when he was amongst more tenured veterans but in the past couple of years he's realized they need someone to step up.

For a little while, it's almost like the Steelers organization didn't want him to be the visible leader of the team because of his public perception. Things he attempted to do were almost downplayed by the media, by teammates, etc. and the common thought seemed to develop that he was not a strong leader. He always took the blame for losses, always had positive things to say about teammates, and in my mind had already become a leader.

Now it's finally starting to be recongized by people and even the anti-Ben Steelers fans can't deny it. He was our Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, he's working with young WR's in the offseason, he's putting AB in his place, and most importantly, he's playing at a high level and holding teammates accountable.

Ben is the leader of this team. He has been for a few years and it's nice to see people (including the organization) take pride in having him as our QB and leader.
