You should always be trying to improve your team, at every single position, why settle for just average? Wouldn't your chances of winning go up if you are great on both sides of the ball?

No, I didn't miss the point. I totally get it. We don't have to have "standout WRs cause we have a franchise QB". So you don't think having a stud WR makes a franchise QB better? You don't think Brady would LOVE to have a #1 receiver?

Here is my point....in order to win the SB you need a top 10 offense AND a top defense. Seattle's scoring offense tied for 8th. Seattle's defense....#1. Our scoring offense was tied for 16th.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't know enough about Wheaton, J. Brown, and Moye to trust them going into the season. Cotchery is nothing more than a #3. My point is that adding a special WR talent to our group, could make the difference in that group being top 10 and being middle of the pack again. I am not saying that you draft a WR as a tunnel vision pick where Evans, Watkins, and Lee are all off the board, but you take the next guy anyway, I am suggesting you look for talent at that position which you just can't pass up. I would be okay with Evans, Watkins, and Lee in the first and I would be okay with Matthews, Robinson, and Benjamin in round #2.

After that one pick on offense, I would have no problem using our other 7 picks on nothing but defense. Improve our depth. Improve the competition. Improve our long-term abilities. Improve our chances to have the #1 D again. That being said, I think a top 10 O this coming year gets us in the playoffs, but when that D improves and is top 5 again WITH our offense (which was the youngest in the league, but I still feel is missing one part) we will be in the Super Bowl again. Fix what you can when you can and if a WR I like is there for the taking in the top 2 rounds, a big receiver which Ben likes...I take him.

As a general rule, when you draft a WR in round one, you're drafting the X receiver. We already have a very highly paid x receiver in Antonio Brown, who led the league in receiving yards behind Josh Gordon. This tall target for Ben stuff gets too much play. He has tall targets who haven't really made it into the fold yet.

I'm not as high on Lee as others are. And, if we're talking tall targets like Jerry says, he's out of the conversation anyway, right? Regardless of size, I would be really surprised if Lee is the #15 pick.

There are many WR's in this draft for the Steelers to choose from. In terms of value, there is plenty after day one. In recent history, how many 1st round receivers have gone on to make a significant impact their first year?
