Sylvester ILB/OLB knows the defense but has never shown much. he had a 1 year deal. pretty good ST's player.

chris carter OLB he's shown a little improvement as a pass rusher. he's close. usually a half a step away on a lot of plays. year 4 this year.

Curtis brown CB will they keep him and finally insert him in the rotation? year 4 also.

larry foote ILB smart play caller, but his on the field days are slipping away.

greg warren LS been here a long time. his paydays are not cheap.

mcbriar P really, can't we find a punter that can punt short if we need it, and high and long if we need it, or out of bounds if we need it, or inside the 20 if we need it? with a little consistency.

golden S I thought he would take a step forward at safety.

spence ILB I loved the pick and have and had high hopes for him. is he a serious keeper though at this point?

Paulson TE was supposed to be a guy that can get open downfield. looked decent his rookie year, but when we needed him to step up this year, it just wasn't there.

are any of these guys that are really going to help us going forward? they all seem like they are one the fence but are ST's enough to warrant keeping any of them with hopes they can be more? do we keep any of them?

My opinion...every one of those guys (except Warren, McBriar and maybe Foote) are all backup/depth guys. So while yes they may get some playing time with injuries/etc. Besides ST I wouldnt expect many backups to make an impact or help a bunch overall. But thats why they are backups.

I'd personally like to part ways with the 3 that i said are starters above. Out of the rest Curtis Brown needs to show something...ideally more than ST. And Paulson...I could see on the team again as the 3rd/4th TE if they go with 4 again. Heath, Speath, Johnson and Paulson (unless of course they spend a higher pick on a TE).

I'd welcome the rest back...and lets see what Spence has and go from there.

Everyone on this list, and I mean everyone, is going to have their future determined by the how the draft goes.

Sylvester depends on draft. Will have to impress or else he will be gone.

chris carter OLB probably gonna be here as depth for the LB corps. Even if we draft a guy we will have that pick, JJ and either Woodley or Worilds

Curtis brown CB assuming were gonna draft a CB pretty high this year, he will be CB5. Likely to only get ST reps.

    larry foote ILB gone

greg warren LS keep if there isn't a better/cheaper option.

    mcbriar P scrub. gone

golden S back up safety and ST. With no Ryan Clark and just Shark and Troy signed, he isn't going anywhere.

spence ILB next year is Spence's year. They didn't keep him for so long just to cut him. He will have every opportunity to shine, and if he proves he can't then he will be gone.

    Paulson TE massive scrub. Gone.

I feel Spence is gone. That much damage to come back and even be close to where he was pre-injury is too much to ask. Also, He hasn't played a down in 2 years. He'll still make mistakes.

Golden,Spence and Carter can stay all the rest can leave.depending on how we draft, these 3 may
also be gone. This is why you have to have an active FO replenishing weak spots with BETTER depth.

Foote is an interesting one. Up until last season, I would be all for showing him the door. I think this season we saw that the defense struggled without him at the ILB position. Now, what that meant is that other guys stepped up, and got their act together in the end.

There's no point keeping Foote as a back up, so the question is whether a player like Vince Williams is ready to take over from him.

they need help at LB. Spence is a project especially coming off the injury that he had. Sly and Carter are both servicable backups. Foote is the guy i think they missed last season. he was supposed to be the main MLB until he went down. i think his loss hurt that defense. im not saying hes the best MLB they had. Timmons is by far the better player, but Footes veteran leadership at a position that was filled with young guys would have been good. unless they find someone else i think hes back. plus i think hes under contract for 1 more year.
