So, the Jets want a receiver who can't catch for their QB who can't throw?

He made more than $2mil this past yr. and after having his best statistical yr, I doubt he'll take a pay cut.

Is Sanders one of the ones practicing out there with Ben? He really should be. They just don't seem to have any chemistry in my opinion and I'm fine with him walking.

Think that says anything or is it just one of those things where a lot of qbs like to work with the young guys?

I don't think it says anything. These events are usually set up by the agencies, and it's usually some young guys catching the balls. I think it's great that these guys got more time with Ben, though.

He was signed for a year knowing Haley's system to ease Wheaton in. Wheaton will start, Sanders will be playing for another team.

Sanders was mediocre to slightly above average with Ben throwing him the ball. Wonder what he'll be with Geno Smith throwing him the ball? :hmmm:

I say good riddance to Sanders too many dropped passes for a #2 WR. Start Wheaton and draft a big WR who can help in the redzone.

Why not Moye? He already knows the system.

The worst part of losing Sanders is that , no one believed he would be here after this season, but the steelers got ZERO IN RETURN. I was all for letting him walk to NE and snagging another draft pick for that reason. Bad move by the FO IMO.

You'll have to ask Tomlin about that. He was killing me all year by not even ACTIVATING him but he's the coach so he probably knows a little more than I do. Although if he would hang out on here he would know a lot more. LOL.

I agree it would have been nice to get something for him but if the Steelers had made a playoff run they would have needed the experience/depth. 6 in one hand 1/2 a dozen in the other.

Sanders will not be back. Ben will have plenty of receiving options with Brown, Bell, Miller, Wheaton and hopefully Cotchery. Those are really solid options.

Sanders isn't exactly a bad WR, but any team that actually "covets" him is pretty bad off at the position. Maybe we can resign Tone at the same price that we paid for Sanders last year after he gets cut loose as a cap casualty.

It would be hard to justify giving Sanders a raise of any sort. He's 4 years in and still not an entrenched starter. Honestly I'm not sure he'd rank in the top 10 of #3 WRs in the NFL.

Fans are putting too many eggs in that Wheaton basket. He hasn't proven that he can play yet.

It was a horrible move throwing away that 3rd round pick, especially when we weren't a true SB contender. It was also a stupid move not trading away Wallace for anything we could have gotten for him. surely some time would have been interested in trading for him assuming they could work out a deal for him.

I keep asking myself the same thing. He has the height,he can easily put on a few pounds and get stronger. I'm pretty sure he has good speed and most important he seems to have heart. So,why not?

YES! IMO we have 2 WRs if Sanders leaves in AB and Cocth. The rest are all unknowns at this point, and its a huge factor going into the draft. I still think we go DB in the first round but if Watkins or Evans falls to 15 lookout!

cotch isn't a starter anymore. he's good in the slot on a LB or safety. having said that , ben like cotchery and I hope he's back in that role for us, with 10 TD's again. slot is where sanders played too, up until last year mostly. big difference in cover man. sanders isn't a bad receiver and never has been for us. the injuries always took him out of a lot of reps in his past few years. I hope he signs a nice contract somewhere and we get a higher comp pick for him next year.

I also think Richard mann will have more time to work with these young guys like wheaton and moye and Justin brown this year. two of these guys are big targets everyone wants and moye has 4.40 wheels and a lot of hustle. he's not that small weight wise either, and I'm sure they have been working on him too, to get stronger. everytime he's played, he's shown me some IT.

I have a lot of hope for Moye and think he has great potential. The problem is this will be his third year in the league. I don't know what is holding him back but something is.
