My wife got me a PS3 for Christmas (yes, I'm a late adapter). It came with The Last Of Us, which was awesome. What are some good games that you recommend getting? I'd also like some ideas on what games to pick up for the kids. I hear Portal is good.

Tomb raider is very good and dirt cheap for the PS3.

    And AC Black Flag. :D

    Bioshock Infinite.

Thanks guys. Bioshock is on my list as are GOW and the Portals. I do have Uncharted 1 & 2, but haven't played them yet. I'll add the others to my list.

If you haven't played them the Splinter Cell series is a lot of fun.

Those are my kinds of games, but strangely enough, I've never played them.

Portal 2 is probably my favorite PS3 game.

The Uncharted games are still some of my favorites. Amazing characters, great gameplay, and great stories.

If you want to try something a little different, take a look at Heavy Rain by Quantic Dream. It's more of an interactive story, but there are no do-overs if you make a bad choice. Really good immersive story game. I'm playing the latest game from Quantic Dream called "Beyond: Two Souls," and while it's pretty good, it's a little more simplistic to play than Heavy Rain (only a couple of controls), but has a decent story.

If you ever liked the old Monkey Island games, take a look at The Cave. It's by the same guy and has similar humor and is cheap on PSN. Another good adventure game is the Walking Dead episodic series. The first episode is free on PSN so you can see if you like it.

Awesome, I'll take a look at those. I'm playing through TWD on 360 right now. It's cooler than I thought it would be.

Heavy Rain is *kind of* similar to TWD, but with much more interaction, a deeper story, and some of the best visuals I've seen in a game. Definitely not one to play with the kids around, though.

I missed before where you asked for good kids games. About 2 months ago, I bought the "re-imagined" version of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (a remake of an old Sega Genesis game). My kids haven't stopped playing it since. They beat it about a month ago, and still play it over and over, even ignoring newer games they got for Christmas. I have to admit that I even enjoyed it

As far as more PSN games, they also play a lot of Hamster Ball and Peggle. They're older games, but those are some of the ones they still play after several years. They also really liked Costume Quest, which is a Halloween based RPG-lite game.

One disc game they like a lot is the Sonic Ultimate Genesis collection.

Thanks for the great recommendations. Heavy Rain sounds cool. I'll pick it up soon. Is Castle of Illusion a disc I can buy or is it on the PSN?

I believe Castle of Illusion is a PSN download only.

I'll recommend any game that has Lego in the title, for both you and the kids. I've had a blast playing most of the Lego games. Lego Marvel is Fantastic.

U gonna watch the Lego Movie? Also apparently Lego DC is really sweet too. For some reason I've just never been a big fan of the Lego games. Nothing I can really put my finger on but I've just never been a big fan of them. My buddy lives an dies by them though.

I'll watch it when I can see it for free or on Netflix. I'm not rushing to the theater to see it. Then again, last year I saw three films in the theater. That was more than double my average for the last three years before or so. :lolol:

Yeah, I used to see at least 2 or 3 movies a month in the theater. Now it's rare for me and my wife to see more than 1 or 2 a year in the theater. We hate having to find babysitters just to go to a movie, and the home theater experience is so good these days it's almost better in a lot of ways.

Yeah we used to be the same way and now with a 3yr old and a 7mon old it's just and the time I have to spend on pastoring it's just really hard to get to go to the movies. I've always been sort of a movie buff too but there are some things more important ya know? The other day she said she wants to take this Saturday and go watch a movie if I have my sermons done on time and I told her I would like to take the whole day and watch Frozen, Saving Mr Banks, and The Hobbit but she was like "I couldn't watch THAT many movies in one day!" I really think I could though. Some people take their little kids and babies to the movies. That is actually one of our pet peeves. LOL.

Well if you have kids it will drastically cut down on your movie going for sure! I'm talking about little kids but then once they get bigger it seems to me that going to the movies must be one of the most expensive things you can do if everyone in a family of 4 gets popcorn and stuff I bet you'd EASILY spend almost $100!

No kids on my end, in fact neither my wife or I want them. I just can't justify spending even the $6.50 for the matinee when I can pause a movie whenever I want at home and eat whatever I want too. It's okay, I know I'm cheap.

Yeah, the last time the 4 of us went to a movie (me, my wife, 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son) I think it cost us around $50 to $60 and that was without snacks (which I REFUSE to buy at the theater - I think of theater snack stands as legal pirates). Forget about when there's a 3D movie they want to see.

I remember spending $3.75 per person, and that was in the evening. Matinees were around $2 or less.

I watched something about theater food once and they said that's actually where theaters make their money because they don't get jack on the ticket sales. I know what you mean though. It's pretty much broad daylight robbery. Me and a couple of my buddies went to watch something one time and 2 of us took candy with us in our pocket and 1 said he wouldn't do that. So after the movie we walked out and there just happened to be a mall security guard parked beside my buddy and I said "OH CRAP! We got busted!" and my buddy started dying laughing and the guy that refused to take in food just knocked the crap out of him! Then my buddy said "HE SAID IT!" and he goes "Yeah but you only encourage him!" LOL! That's one of my favorite movie memories!

When people ask you why you don't want kids you should say "because they're too expensive at the movies!" LOL!

You guys are right it costs a small fortune to take a family of 4 to the movies. There's usually only a handful each year that I feel needs to be seen on the big screen. Any of the Marvel films and some DC I like to go too. Maybe it's just me but I'm looking forward to Godzilla,it looks like they may have done it right this time. The trailer looks good,he's huge...lol. There is still a theatre by me that shows most of the popular movies after the first run. It's a older theatre but for 2$ Tuesdays and 3$ any other time you still kinda get the big screen experience ,just on a lesser scale. Heck there's even a couple drive-in movies still around within 10 miles. That's kinda cool in the summer.....but the kids being in the backseat kinda put a damper on things....:innocent:;)

Ha! Sounds like you wish your life was a Meatloaf song! Yeah we have a dollar theater here too. There also is a drive in theater not far from where I pastor but I've never really wanted to watch a movie at a drive in because I feel like the audio and the "experience" wouldn't be as good. It's probably just where I'm so vastly younger than everybody on here. LOL.
