The more I read/hear about this CBA, the more I'm not liking it. Think about it this way. The Salary cap hasn't really seen any real movement since this CBA and now we here about this $2M boost clause?

    1. How does this work? Is it just for one year or for the duration of he CBA?
    2. If you knew this clause was in there you've already set the cap at a limit that would enable you to afford it if used, thereby artificially lowering the cap to compensate.
    3. Something smells fishy here.

Very good question. It depends on the direction the Steelers want to go. It could be used to help offset a huge hit in deadmoney created by cutting someone like Woodley or it could be used to extend Ike( coupled with moving him to S ) or signing a UFA once the mad rush is over and the "top FA" guys are gone and true value can be found.

Either way TTF is right, this could be huge and Kahn must be on his knees saying please please please!!!

    1. Just for one year, yes.
    2. I don't know if I quite understand, but it's not a clause in the CBA. It was something owners and the union agreed on in 2012.
    3. I'm stuffed up this morning, but you might be right.

If it's for one year then it's almost useless. So you bump it for one year and then the next year you say the cap is back to un-bumped levels and teams are over the the cap. This only allows you to sign one year qualifying contracts.

They need to raise the salary cap it's been stagnant for the last 3-4 years.
